One of the reviews here is not like the others. If you read Addison McMillan's claim that s/he received food poisoning within 3 hours of consuming it, and that her friend had similar but much less severe symptoms within hours herself. I am not affiliated with the owner, its workers, their friends, their children...heck, I've never even been there yet. But I know a thing or two about kitchens, confections, and food poisoning.
There are four things wrong with Addison's statement. The first: food poisoning (save your anecdotes) takes much longer than 3 hours to develop. Try closer to 24 hours. Pathogens need time to propagate to the point it creates, and you will notice any physical illness. Try salmonella sometime. The effects are not felt the same day much less within three hours. But when they're felt....it's pretty much the worst.
The second: Addison did have severe stomach cramps, and her friend had, say moderate cramps. This isn't unusual when consuming a large amount of sugars/dairies/foods you may rarely eat or don't normally eat in those volumes. If these foods are eaten soon after a full meal, you could be overwhelming your digestive system with the combination of things you put inside. Which relates to...
The third: Define food poisoning. Addison expects us to take her at her word that this was food poisoning. Don't. If you are ever subjected to food poisoning, call the city/county department of health, and file a report immediately upon your suspicion. Based on your report, they have resources to help you as well as to protect others in case there is a threat to public health. Addison has not done this. Rather, she has taken to Google, made a potentially damaging review, and we are all the lesser for it.
The fourth and last: Addison never reviews her dish for us!?! What did it taste like? Did you eat all of it? Being "poisoned" seems to indicate she ate more than a bite or two. And that's the most important thing to note here folks: you may want to share a dish rather than eat the entire thing in one sitting. Don't get me wrong, I get why someone would blame the food when getting sick shortly after eating something. But that's like telling someone I got a cold because I left the window open at night.
I hope Addison (and you) give them another chance. I'll even buy your next treat there. Provided you share it. I was gonna go with a 7,000 calorie vanilla milkshake myself, so I can definitely...
Read moreIf you visit this establishment let me for warn you to not make the same mistake I did. I got the street corn in a cup, and a few hours after consuming I had been going through some of the worst stomach pain of my life. I definitely got food poisoning from it. I was up all night vomiting. My friend also got the same thing I did and she also had contracted some symptoms within the few hour mark of consuming. I’m usually not a person that gets sick often at all, nor have I ever had to leave a negative review. But I had to for this case as I have never been...
Read moreFor starters, the interior is fun and a child’s dream. It’s an environment you want to sit and enjoy a treat in and the seating is cozy. I have gone twice now- I got the Strawberry Shake the first time and got the Rice Pudding Popsicle dipped in chocolate. The strawberry shake had an insane amount of toppings on it, it was incredible and super fun. The popsicle was probably the best and most unique one I have ever had! Smooth and silky and lightly spiced. Couldn’t recommend it more for date night or just a special treat. Plus the...
