So this morning on our way home from camping, I stopped into Sisters based on recommendations to try out Angeline's Bakery. We waited all morning for this special treat, packing and getting out of there early before we were completely starving. They were supposed to have good gluten free items and be Celiac friendly.. My over all impression is that they were short, not friendly and impatient as I tried to place our order, and the kids tried to make their order. I explained that I had Celiac and was asking questions about some of their items and the lady didn't seem at all interested in answering questions, she just kept asking "is that all". The website said they sold loaves of gluten free bread which was the main reason I went there. She said they didn't make any, but when she feels like making more she can call me if I want to leave my info. Um, no thanks. So I ordered a blueberry banana bread and a scone for later. Both kids with me ordered food, and I ordered something for Charley, and three hot drinks. They got the drink order wrong and had to remake it. Then despite being told I was Celiac they put all the breads in the same bag together. Meaning now I can't eat anything in the bag because it was topped with the gluten breads. I had kept the blueberry/banana piece out of the bag thankfully so went to sit down to at least eat it. I'd give River my scone. When I opened it, it was oozy and WAY under baked. So I took it to the counter and asked if they could give me another piece as it was still raw in the middle. The lady then asked if it was vegan, (she worked there not me), and after determining it was vegan started explaining that since it was vegan it wasn't raw. There were no eggs or dairy in it. I said it was under cooked, raw, liquid batter in the middle...whatever she wanted to call it but it was a gross blob of batter and I won't eat that. She said she was sorry that is the recipe and walked off. I was floored. No offer for anything else, no refund..just too bad. At this point I can't eat any of the food that I purchased because they contaminated it, they refused to replace my bread, gotten my drink wrong (but did fix that) and I was becoming damn hangry. So I sat and watched everyone else eat, and I'd already spent $25 on food- not being able to eat any of it. So they did notice by then that I was upset (not from me talking to them, or telling them they contaminated my food and I couldn't eat it, or watching me throw away a full uneaten slab of raw dough blob) and offered me a cookie. One cookie. Worth $1.25. I didn't want a cookie, I wanted breakfast! So, this is how my morning started. I finally just now at almost noon got some food. I know one thing, I will never go back to that place again. This was the first time I've tried to eat out. What a huge...
Read moreI came early in the morning on the day of the sister's quilt festival and ordered six decaf shots of espresso. But what I received instead was a latte and I'm lactose intolerant.... So then they remade it and gave me a regular espresso Americano instead. I'm a horribly allergic to caffeine so that's why I order decaf all the time. Both drinks were incorrect and now I can barely function after drinking all that caffeine And my stomach is in knots after drinking the milk.... The nice lady who took the order wrote on cup the exact correct order that they still made it wrong twice!
But what was really frustrating was that I immediately had to drive back home so I could lie down because I felt like I was either going to throw up or pass out..... Six shots of decaf espresso was written on the cup properly...
I think the second go around they accidentally gave me someone else's drink because it was in a very tall cup filled to the top with water.... Six shots of decaf espresso should be in a tiny little cup.
Same thing happened to me 3 years ago and it took about 24 hours for my heart to calm down. It's now 6 hours later and I'm still in bed having taken some medicine to relax my heart..
I totally understand that mistakes can be made, especially on such a busy day...... But I know the difference between caffeine and non-caffeinated....
please don't gaslight me and tell me I can't distinguish between regular coffee and decaf. I am...
Read moreWe stopped at Angeline’s for some gluten free pastries while we were passing through and took them to go. We had a very mixed experience: ordering took quite a while, and once we had ordered, it took a pretty long while for the employees to collect our pastries even though we didn’t order coffees or lunch items. Unfortunately, since it took so long and a different employee filled our order than took our order, we didn’t get a correct order. We ordered: 1 GF peach muffin 1 GF lemon bar 1 vanilla cupcake 2 GF marionberry scones 1 piece of carrot cake 1 strawberry scone
We received: 2 GF lemon bars 2 CHOCOLATE cupcakes 2 Marion berry scones (assumed we received GF as requested, fingers crossed) 1 strawberry scone 1 piece of carrot cake 0 peach muffins
I’m hopeful that what we received and what we paid for balanced out, since we were missing an item but received an extra…but since there were no prices on the items in the cases I don’t really know. As to the taste, I really enjoyed my marionberry scone and lemon bar, but my daughter who ordered a vanilla cupcake said the chocolate cake had no flavor and ate only the frosting off the top. If we pass through sisters again, I’d probably stop by but I’d check my order before...
