Hunan Express — Restaurant in Smithfield

On a hunting vacation with my husband. He ordered 2 large wonton soups and house Mei fun. I ordered a beef and broccoli deluxe dinner with fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. I ordered mine with no broccoli and extra beef and she acted like I had two heads! I always order from other places this way and it's never questioned. Once we got back to the hotel room and opened the food we saw how terrible everything really was! The beef in the Mei fun was GREY! My husband is a butcher and he refused to eat the beef. My meal came with very little meat even though I paid extra for extra beef and only 3 pieces of sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice is literally rice with some kind of brown sauce/seasoning on it and no veggies or anything else. It tasted like it was month old box rice from the store. Very strange tasting food. The egg foo young I ordered came drenched in a dark sauce that tasted like wine. The egg rolls tasted weird to say the least. They also said they didn't know how to make crispy tofu. Seriously?? Every Chinese restaurant I've ever been to that serves tofu knows how to fry it so that it is crispy. I could only stomach a few bites before I felt like I was going to gag. Let's just say the sea gulls are going to be eating good later tonight! The only advantage of this place is it's fairly cheap. This food was horrible. I ordered the general chicken special, fried chicken wings, fried rice. That food went straight in the trash. General chicken was mushy tasted like it had been microwaved from the day prior. Fried chicken looked weird and had absolutely no flavor, just grease and flour. The fried rice was very mushy and had no flavor, I’m 100% sure they cooked it a few days prior.
