Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Smithfield

Beyond disappointed, and I will not patronize this chain again. Around three-ish I attempted to order online for pickup which was not available for through the rest of the afternoon and evening. Unfortunately I did not review the menu online as I find sometimes it doesn't give accurate information on quantities, etc. I presume this may be based on the demand in different areas. Apparently if you purchase Chicken only you pay the same price as if you ordered Hush Puppies with it. I went inside to place an order. I explained to the cashier that I am not from the area, never been to a Smithfield's Chicken & BBQ before and wanted to order chicken only, no sides. Mid-order the cashiers were swapped out. Apparently it was necessary for her to relocate to the drive-thru before completing the order with me. I ordered 8 pieces of Chicken and received the Chicken and a huge bag of Hush Puppies. I went back to the counter to inquire why I had them and explained I wasn't aware I was getting Hush Puppies. I then asked to swap them out for fries. (My partner seems uncomfortable when I "speak up" about something not to my standards or liking.) I do not care for Hush Puppies and no one with me is going to eat them. The woman I spoke with graciously swapped them for a huge bag of French Fries. I called back to the location asking the cost of 8 pieces of Chicken ONLY, NO SIDES and was advised "$17.99 plus tax because all Chicken comes with Hush Puppies." Not sure why NO ONE communicated this to me while I was inside Smithfield's Chicken speaking with humans. NO ONE SAID THISE EXACT WORDS. Clearly no meeting of the minds here. Takeaway - if you want Chicken without any sides this is not your place. That said, the dining area has an open layout and the location was clean. I liked the signage for drive-thru. Absolutely North Carolina BBQ!!! If your anywhere near Selma or Smithfield North Carolina, stop, easy to find, good parking, 20 Star service and food. Just try it!! The chicken must be as good. The drive thru did not stop the whole time. Just stop and try this place. I live 4 hours away and I'm thinking about driving down here to eat!! It's that good! Thank you Smithfield's Chicken 'N BBQ, your staff is top notch.

Okay, it's April 2021, dealing with Covid, this place is the best place for BBQ and BBQ Chicken, period. They are Covid complient and super great associates working here. If you're anywhere near Smithfield North Carolina, just stop and get you some of the best food you ever had. Oh, and the banana pudding is to die for. This place is 6 hours from my house but I would almost drive there just for the food. Thank you Smithfield BBQ for your hospitality and fantastic food. See you again soon.

Okay, now it's October 2021, we just spent 5 day's at RVacation now Northpoint RV Resort, Selma, just to go to Smithfield chicken and bbq, Ester took excellent care of us Again. We drove 5 hours just to get this chicken and bbq Oh and the banana pudding is to die for!! Just saying, the drive is worth it. Thanks again Smithfield chicken and bbq for a wonderful week. The restaurant was fairly slow when we arrived. The cashier was ready for our order before we even decided on what we were eating. However, after waiting for a while, the order numbers above ours were being called. So I inquired about our order, and was told it was being taken care of. A few minutes later after hearing more orders called, we were told our order had been “bumped”. One of the cashiers asked for my receipt, and when I gave it to her, I told her I would need it back. About 10 minutes later, our order was finally ready. I was not surprised when I had to ask for the receipt, when I was told they couldn’t find it, they gave me the yellow carbon copy that had originally been “bumped”. Our order was to go, but we had to wait so long for our food that I finished my drink. I had to wait a couple more minutes to get someone to refill it, and she rolled her eyes when she did. On top of all of that, I was shocked when I bit into my barbecue sandwich and there was slaw. I have never had a barbecue sandwich served that way, so it would be helpful to put somewhere where you can see before ordering that slaw comes on it. And the french fries were not good, they didn’t have any flavor.
