Subway — Restaurant in Smyrna

Today I walked into this restaurant to enjoy some of the healthy food I am used to enjoying at Subway. I was met with a half-hearted "Welcome to Subway" and then I asked for my usual food.

Everything looked like it was going fine until I began to notice the kid exchanging glances with another person behind me (another customer?) that made me feel uncomfortable.

After finishing preparing the food, the kid proceeded to put the sandwiches in a bag without asking me whether I wanted to eat inside the restaurant or take the food with me. He then took my money, and after exaggeratedly holding the bill upwards (as if checking if it was counterfeit) he said, "Your change is right there," pointing to the tray into which change comes out from the register. Funny thing is, I left some of the change as a tip.

I was a bit surprised at this rudeness, but more was to come. First of all when I walked towards the inside of the shop to pick a table, the other person followed me then pretended to grab something off a shelf.

I proceeded to eat and try to enjoy my meal, which I had paid for. The kid then left the counter and stood right behind me and started banging stuff while talking loudly to another kid and a girl who were also in the restaurant at the time. Their conversation was about how to deal with people who come into the restaurant to steal, how some people come and use counterfeit money to buy food, how he once had a customer come in who was "sweaty and looked like he had been running, etc.

As if the loud banging and the loud insipid conversation were not enough, a cardboard box was kicked violently in my direction and slid past me just a couple of inches from my leg.

When I finished eating, I stood up and entered the bathroom, and when I came out I almost bumped into this same bespectacled kid, he was standing so close to the bathroom door. I said, "Okay, thank you," and left.

I think what happened is this kid felt like he was somehow above serving somebody who looks like me. And yet, he is not, because he failed at even that. I think all the talk about people wanting to steal from him and cheat him with counterfeit money did not come from fear, but rather was a defense mechanism that allowed him to feel superior.

I am happy I left the place and do not have to see that kid ever again, because I think this kid suffers from severe problems and pent-up anger and multiple complex issues.

Anyway good luck with everything, but this is one place I will hopefully never set...

To be honest, I have been going to the subway at least once a week for the last year. I would definitely consider myself a regular.

Every time I go in, I am either greeted by Marquis or De’onna with a smile and a hello. They are so friendly they remember my name and my order.

I work in an area that has lots of restaurants. I have lots of places to choose from, but I keep going back here because they are extremely friendly and professional. I’ve never had to wait long for my food. The food is always fresh and hot and to be honest, I would be friends with De’onna and Marquis outside of a work environment.

I have visited this location at least 100 times and I have been satisfied every single time. I can’t even say that about Chick-fil-A who is known for their customer service.

The ingredients were noticeably fresh, and my sandwich was crafted with care.
