Carruth Cellars Urban Winery & Tasting Room — Restaurant in Solana Beach

Wow. This place is amazing. First of all, they have a monthly membership subscription for a ridiculously reasonable price where you get 1 free bottle of wine per month plus 2 glasses of wine whenever you want each and every month. In fact, the 2nd glass of wine can be for a friend or your loved one. So basically, you and your partner can come here everyday and each get 1 free glass of wine. I know. It sounds too good to believe. That's why this place deserves 5 stars!

The wine itself is actually pretty tasty. They have several different types of wines, which make for a great wine tasting experience. They have vintage reserves too if you want to drink something special. They also offer a cheese board with crackers, which pairs perfectly with the wine.

The location is great, 1 block from Highway 101 and a few blocks away from Fletcher's Cove Beach Park - Solana Beach's nicest beach. Eateries, boutique shops, and other restaurants are in the immediate area, walking distance from the winery, to enjoy with your friends, family, and/or partner.

The inside of the winery is spacious and comfortable (see my picture). The people are always so nice. Maybe it's the wine. But they are always so social, sweet, and talkative. Everyone I've been, I always meet someone new and have a fantastic conversation with them. The crowd is as good as the service. The quality of the service is on point - courteous and respectful. Sometimes they can get a bit busy and/or distracted talking to all the people at the bar. But if you make an effort to call them when you need them, they will definitely take care of you.

I can’t rave enough about Carruth Cellars and the incredible experience they gave us. My husband and I held our rehearsal dinner there on July 12th, and from start to finish, it was exceptional. As a bride who was stressed out and frazzled, I mixed up the dates in our contract and accidentally booked for the wrong day. When we showed up in a panic, the team at Carruth Cellars didn’t miss a beat.

They went out of their way to accommodate us, transforming the space and clearing it out in just one hour. I was floored by their efficiency and grace under pressure. Nick immediately jumped in to help rearrange the tables and clear the area, and Hayley, the event manager, arrived swiftly to make sure everything was in place. Throughout the chaos, their kindness and professionalism were a true comfort to me and my family.

Carruth Cellars is already a beautiful venue, but it’s the warm, supportive staff that makes it truly special. Whether you're planning an event or just stopping by for a great glass of wine, Carruth Cellars is a place you’ll want to visit.

Carruth Cellars hosted our Wedding Reception a few weeks back (much to the chagrin of some of the Carruth Member looking to grab a glass of wine on a Saturday night, I'm sure... ) and it turned out exactly as we were hoping for.

We've been members for a few years now, so it holds a special place in our heart, and to be able to have our wedding reception there was just an added perk. (The membership discount on the venue fee didn't hurt much either!)

They were great with the planning, and allowed us to have a preview meeting to go over the logistics of how we wanted the layout to be and when we could get vendors in/out. Our DJ had a special request to get in and setup his equipment a bit early, and they have no issues accommodating that.

We did have one minor issue regarding quoted pricing vs signed contract pricing (that was most likely due to Carruth event coordinating personnel turnover), but once it was understood, they were more than willing to resolve it for us and honor our originally quoted price.

Oh yeah... and the 5 cases of wine that we purchased for the wedding all went down rather smoothly as well!

We wouldn't hesitate to use Carruth for special events...
