As a Tufts student I have been a regular customer of this place, but today is the last day I buy anything from this establishment. I'll head to Harvard for Blackbird Donuts and breakfast sandwiches from Pavement Coffee. For the price, everything is mediocre. Diluted coffee, pricy breakfast sandwiches,... If you want a slab of cream cheese on your bagel that's $2.5 extra.. Bought their stuff from Food for all once. The description was super misleading. You'd think they let you choose between 3 donuts and 6 bagels. The donuts are always out. The leftover bagels are weird flavors, hard and dry. Looking at Yelp seems like bad service from cashiers is a common theme. Got a donut and a bagel today. Didn't have time to take a look at them until lunch. The donut turns out to be a cake one instead of a fluffy one. At no point the employee told me if this flavor is cake or fluffy, and that information is not available anywhere on the menu (unlike everywhere else that sell donut, Blackbird, Union Square, Kane's). As a consumer I felt cheated. I did not know what I was buying. I called them and asked them to put this information on the menu, and the person on the phone was terribly rude and condescending: "the flavors are 50 cake/50 fluffy (because I totally want to play russian roulette for breakfast)" "well... I'm sure anyone can tell which kind of donut it is" I apologize I'm not well-versed in donutology enough for this place. I just want to see that information on the menu that's all!! This place doesn't appreciate you as a customer. There are way better...
Read moreSummary: Mediocre, flavorless bagel sandwich and donut
DETAILS Food/beverage: What I ate - a turkey/bacon bagel sandwich and chocolate butternut crunch donut. Both the sandwich and donut suffered from lack of flavor. The bagel was slightly better than a Dunkin Donuts bagel. It had a slightly chewy exterior and a firm, bready interior and even though it was an everything bagel it barely had any flavor. The donut didn’t taste like there was any chocolate in it – I would simply describe it as sweet. I peeked in the kitchen and figured out why the donut was so flavorless – they use pre-made mixes. These are not homemade donuts. They are made on-site, but they are made using industrial mixes.
Service: Indifferent cashiers but not actively unfriendly
Price/value: Inexpensive, but I’d rather pay more for higher quality food
Physical space/ambience: The interior features slightly awkward seating areas with little natural light. Though the walls are brightly colored, the lack of other interior decorations in the seating areas leaves the place feeling sterile. The venting system isn’t great either as the air was a bit stale and smoky from the griddle. I can still smell the place on me as I write...
Read moreI will no longer support this restaurant. I have ordered on uber eats MULTIPLE times from their establishment with my orders being missing or wrong. I can't get refunds or edits for payment on uber despite trying to find ANY way to contact a customer service person. That's nonexistent now.
Last straw, I tried calling the restaurant. Spoke with the MANAGER, he took my information down and ensured I'd get a call back once the situation was rectified. Never heard back.
It's one thing if an order is slow moving, but another when they completely messed up the order and refuse to refund or correct the situation. With the way the economy is, I rarely order out now and here I am trying to support a small business and treat myself to something and I can't even do that without the order being completely wrong and getting charged for it.
Shame on management for not righting their wrongs and following up after promising they'd do so. I worked in the industry for a long time so I understand mistakes happen, but fix them. Don't yes me and then never do so. Will never support this small...
