Don Oscar's Cafe — Restaurant in Somerville

Don Oscar's Cafe is so awesome that if I could give this place 10 stars, it would still not be enough! My wife, my daughter, and our little 4 legged furry girl visited this cafe today, March 28, 2025 and we sat outside in their porch area, to enjoy our food. The first thing that impressed us all was their impeccable service! Our hostess, Nicole was very welcoming and super authentic in her interactions with us! Her pleasant disposition and caring attitude truly reinstated my hope in customer service that if you have noticed, is dying rapidly these days. So, it was refreshing to have Nicole as our hostess. She was prompt, took our orders perfectly and delivered us the most delicious food! I have to say, my favorite food here is the veggie burger (it was my second time having it and definitely will not be the last!) We also had Casado Tico, Pinto Platter bowl, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The Costa Rican coffee is a must have. We had it in Costa Rica while vacationing there and were obviously thrilled to know they have that coffee here too. It brought back some sweet memories of our visit to CR. Overall, we felt very comfortable and truly enjoyed our dining experience, thanks to the lovely hospitality extended by Nicole and the rest of the staff. Like I said to them on my way out...they are ROCKSTARS! Kudos to the owner and the staff at Don Oscar's Cafe for running a beautiful restaurant with a warm and welcoming heart. We Love you! Initially I had a hard time finding the place. Google Maps takes you to the back door where the kitchen is, so you must walk around the front.

When I entered there were a fair amount of people either ordering or waiting for an order. I was immediately greeted with “Welcome to your new favorite place”. I ordered a cheese omelet with bacon and home fries with rye toast as well as an Earl grey tea. As I sat at the table waiting for my meal there were a lot of regulars that came in and others that appeared to have never been there before.

It felt like it took no time for my meal to come out of the kitchen and arrive at my table. Everything was cooked to perfection; the portions were generous and the omelet was outstanding. I completely cleaned my plate which I don’t normally do. By the time I finished my breakfast place had cleared out briefly and I was able to take few minutes the talk to the very friendly people at the counter. I also took a look at all the pastries in the case. With a little help I decided to take a few home with me. While I don't remember the names of everything that I brought home it was all excellent!

If you have the time I strongly recommend stopping by you won't be disappointed… they weren't wrong this is definitely my new favorite place I can't wait to...

My husband and I, decided to visit Don Oscar’s Cafe in Somerville today but were completely put off by the experience before even stepping inside. The parking situation was extremely confusing, there was only one spot available, and it wasn’t clear if it belonged to the café or the restaurant next door. While we were waiting to figure it out, a staff member from the café (driving a Subaru) was behind us, honking incessantly. She eventually got out of her car, stormed up to us, and rudely yelled, "Are you going to the café? Because this parking is for café customers!" Her tone and behavior were completely unprofessional and disrespectful. We were planning to visit the café, but after realizing that such an ill-mannered person worked there, we decided to go elsewhere. No one should have to deal with this kind of treatment just to get a coffee. Avoid this place if you value decent...
