We took my 2-year-old daughter with us to Vinny’s on 1/5/19 at approximately 6:20 pm. I was very excited because I’d wanted to go there for some time now. We were rudely greeted by the kid that was the host and asked, “How may I help you?”. We were at a restaurant standing by the “Please wait to be seated” sign. I thought that our intent was clear. He told us they couldn’t accommodate us. He then paused and said we could sit in the deli section. There were others there and we were fine with being seated in that area. We were never offered a high chair and had to ask for one. Our server came over and took our drink order and then took our meal order. She wasn’t rude, but I wouldn’t describe her demeanor (or that of any other employee) as being friendly. After that, we waited over an hour before interacting with another employee while we watched other tables get their food. No one came back to check on us or would even make eye contact. We finally were able to talk to the host and he went back to check on our food. When he returned he said we were behind a large party and it still wasn’t ready and attempted to walk away. I asked how much longer and he said 15 minutes and asked us if we wanted to cancel our order. I said yes and he then asked us to pay for our drinks and anything we already had eaten, which was a bottle of sparkling water, a cup of milk and a diet Pepsi. I refused and we left. We never received an apology of any sort for making a toddler wait over an hour without any food and were made to feel like an imposition from the moment we walked into the restaurant. The whole time my daughter was well behaved and didn’t make a mess or cause a scene. While I can’t say we weren’t behind a large party, the visual evidence of what was going on in the restaurant leads me to think that statement wasn’t completely truthful. I’ll never go back again. What's worse is that this restaurant comes up as when searching Google for kid friendly...
Read moreWhen my friends and I walked in last night for dinner, I was sort of confused because when you first walk in, you would think you're just getting a sandwich, but you quickly realize that their restaurant is in the back of the shop. I was very excited because my friends, who are borderline food critics themselves highly recommended the restaurant and I had a craving for pasta last night. Don't get me wrong, the food was great, took a bit long to cook (45 minutes to be exact) but definitely worth the wait for me; my friend's veal however wasn't so lucky. My friend originally ordered middle rare-it came out well done. Of course, my friend politely asked the waitress to take it back-you're paying for the food-I would have done the same. Then another 45 minutes later, they bring out another plate, this time, the sheep can practically jump up at you and say "bahhhhhhhhh" it was so raw. Of course my friend was frustrated. He called for our waiter over and basically told him the situation, of course, at this point, you would think they are theatrically apologetic? NOPE, when our waiter came back with our bill, he told us "Apologies for ruining your dinner (because my friend mentioned that because by the end of his dinner, he STILL didn't have his dinner), and of course, I didn't charge you for your dinner, and by the way, the veal was cooked rare." WHAT, are you serious right now, I mean I have been to numerous restaurants in my time and I have NEVER heard of a waiter talk back to a customer when the food wasn't cooked to the customer's specifications. "By the way, its was cooked middle rare the first time," you have GOT to be kidding me. Of course we left leaving no tip, and sad to say, I don't think any of us will be returning every again and I would suggest none of you reading this to go back either if what you are seeking in a dining experience includes half decent services from your...
Read moreFOOD cant be beat. You go here for the food. AUTHENTIC SICILIAN. One of the only boston area italian places that serve a rabbit option (a common sicilian food). The portion sizes are large. They make some pasta in house (fusili), and some deserts (tiramisu). Sauce is excellent. Tiramisu Is made in-house and one of the best in the area in my opinion- moist and perfect. Many deserts are not made inhouse. I dont recommend what they call gelato. It's simply ice cream, and not the buttery texture you would expect from gelato. It is good, but not the expected texture of gelato. I've had many dishes here. One of the only places I will order lasagna. It's made right! Chicken saltimboca is the best I've ever had. picatta dishes also excellent. service was poor this last time I went. Silverware was quite dirty, and the one server did not have help so timing was quite slow. He was accommodating inspite of the silverware - he admitted was awful... replaced all our silverware. The one bathroom is small, and not handicap accessible. also quite dirty, trash was piled high. These two issues can be remedied easily. I have to be honest in the review to be an agent of change - because this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Boston area. I rarely give 5 stars. The food...
