Filthy, disgusting, and unsafe. We found four spiders in our room. After that, we made sure to close all of our luggage when we left the room. The hallway outside the room was stained and littered with trash. Most of the rest of the room was fine and looked clean, but the bathroom was not; there was a hair in the drain, and the toilet paper holder was coming off the wall. The area around the hotel feels extremely unsafe. It's behind a strip mall at Assembly, but the lot next to the hotel, where a couple of churches used to be, is just a bunch of grass and gated off, and it's next to a construction site right off the highway, and in between are signs of homeless people. As a New Yorker, this area reminds me of the back alleys I try to avoid in NYC. The breakfast area is very small, has very limited seating, and gets very cramped. Breakfast options are limited to a couple of cereals, eggs, sausages, yogurts, and waffles. Service depends on who you get. When I asked one of the receptionists a simple question, she responded extremely rudely and gave me two different answers in the same sentence. The other receptionist we met, Sandy, is wonderful and the only good thing about our stay here, although she unfortunately seems oblivious to the hotel's problems. I hope she gets paid extremely well or gets a much better position somewhere else. Unfortunately, she was not able to provide any compensation for the issues we encountered, which I don't blame her for (she even offered to have maintenance come down and kill the spiders we saw, although we killed the ones we could already). Just to add insult to injury, the alarm clock was preset to go off at midnight. That was fun to discover the hard way. I was really hoping the negative reviews of this hotel were exaggerating. They were not. This place does not deserve to charge nearly $200 a night. My best advice is to spend some extra money and stay somewhere that actually respects your safety and your health.

I’m not sure if I would consider the ten minutes my wife and I spent in the room “staying” here, but staying was our intention. We booked a room for one night to attend a concert in Somerville. Reviews online overall are pretty good, but that was not our experience at all. To start, the front desk agents were wonderful. They were helpful, friendly, and were exactly what I want out of someone in the role. The check-in was extremely easy. Now, let’s get to the bad. We get off the elevator on our floor and the hallway air is saturated with cigarettes. That heavy stench was also in the room. It was like someone’s been smoke a pack a day in the room for years. First thing we noticed was a hair on the pillowcase and some stains on the sheets. Gross, but we can get new ones. In the bathroom, however, was menstrual blood or other blood smeared on the wall. We were running late to the concert, so we left then after a few minutes. I spoke to the front desk agent on the way out who assured me he’d get housekeeping up to the room asap to clean the blood and change the bedding. Once we got back, the blood was gone and bedding was changed. New bedding also had a hair and now instead of stains there there some crumbs or boogers or something on it. We decided at that point to just check out and stay somewhere else as our room was not fit for a guest. I have stayed at some scummy places in my life. I’m not a high class person by any means. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in my life. As a reminder, the front desk agents were terrific. They need the credit they deserve!

DO. NOT. STAY. HERE. It’s WORSE than just “bad.” If you don’t want to read my review, just look at the photos I’ve attached. I never leave reviews. From the second I stepped inside, I had a weird feeling. The lobby looked like a nursing home, but I tried to stay optimistic… Maybe the room would be better? I was so wrong. The moment I got to my floor, I saw a giant “NO SMOKING” sign, right before being smacked in the face with the overwhelming smell of marijuana. I opened my door and was shocked by what I saw. I don’t even know how to describe it… White stains, brown stains, red stains that literally looked like blood splatter, burn holes, half-used toilet paper, and stained/sticky towels. There were dirty curtains, a lost shoe under the entertainment center, popcorn kernels, and something under the couch cushions that looked like smeared feces. Hair in the bed. The whole room smelled like mildew. It was beyond disgusting. I left 10 minutes after arriving and got a CHEAPER stay at a super nice, clean, hotel up the street. Wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, DON'T STAY HERE!!!!! Cheapest option, and it shows. If you're considering staying here, please read through the WHOLE review. TLDR at the bottom.

Our party drove 2 separate cars with 2 separate rooms. One group arrived early and the hotel would not allow them to check in without the second group around. 2nd group called the hotel to try and give appropriate cc information via phone and they wouldn't take it so they could check in. 2nd group was several hours out and the hotel could not accommodate the first group. Apparently if we had been part of a business this would have been no problem.

Aside from the more personal problems, I have listed out some pros and cons of this hotel here:

Pros: +Within 10 min walk to Orange line (assembly t station) +Lots of great restaurants around +Free mediocre-at-best breakfast -your options are: powdered scrambled eggs, sausage, make your own waffle, stale bagels, small muffins, yogurt & instant oatmeal. For beverages you get: light roast, dark roast, water, apple juice from concentrate and orange juice from concentrate. On the last day of my stay they didn't even have the scrambled eggs, they were hard boiled +Good water pressure +Your standard working mini fridge +A microwave (we never tested to see if it worked)

Cons: Shower didn't drain at all, I undid the drain myself to find over an inch of hair and brown disgusting gunk (don't even want to think about what that was!) clogging the drain +Rooms are extremely dated and pretty small +I'm allergic to dust and I literally could not breathe out of my nose at night while I was sleeping +One of the floors smells like pee, where they keep the guests with animals +Several desk attendants were very short and rude with us (there were a few that were very nice) +Not enough seating in the breakfast area, so get there early!! +Key cards repeatedly failing DESPITE keeping them away from other credit cards, phones and the T-pass (come on, it's 2024, let's get rid of these key cards anyway. They're SO not secure) +I agree with the others here when I say the fans in the bathroom sound like jet engines. In addition, they were extremely dusty (yikes!) +There is a communal seating area in the lobby with a microwave. The counter the microwave was sitting on was extremely dirty and was not cleaned for the entirety of my stay (mon-sat) +One member of our party by Fri night had a massive rash on their legs, which we can only assume is from BED BUGS -we DID check the room and bed for bed bug staining and we found some splotches on the side of the bed which looked old and like they had been cleaned several times. I cannot confirm if that was actually bed bug remnants +Elevators need to be updated. There is graffiti all over the walls. They creak and jostle when you get off. +Elevators need to be CLEANED the buttons were grimy and the floor was dirty. +The area around the hotel is filthy (aside from the construction, which they cannot help) there is broken glass, needles, cans, plastic bags, garbage, and more. +Although the hotel cannot be blamed this, it is something to consider: construction around the hotel makes for difficulty finding the hotel, blind spots for pedestrians trying to cross the street and lots of dust in the air +The doors in the front are automatic, but they don't work correctly and can be extremely irritating if you're in a rush. Almost hit my head on the door that opened slower several times +You have to request cleaning the day before??? +Toilet clogs VERY easily

  • if you do clog the toilet they give you a plunger (one of which has a 6 foot long handle) and you must do the walk of shame up to your room with a giant 6 foot plunger +Not enough hot water in the morning, and for those of us who take showers at night the water is absolutely scalding hot

TLDR: FILTHY, FILTHY, FILTHY!! Possible bed bugs, outdated security systems, more filth, mediocre breakfast and VERY POOR accomodations for guests needing any kind of tidying in...

UPDATE July 24, 2023: The hotel has cut off all water without informing guests that it would be cut off, and refused to give us any information about when it would be back on. When we checked in a few days ago, the lobby was absolutely a mess. The ceiling was leaking and there were a dozen people waiting on their rooms as the hotel did not have them ready.

UPDATE May 16, 2022: We are told to request shuttle service one day in advance, but when I tried to request a shuttle service to the airport for tomorrow, May 17, the front desk said they were not able to take any requests.

So many issues. I have been staying here once or twice a year since I was 10 or so, because they have an unbeatable rate for out-of-town patients that come to Massachusetts General Hospital. They have a shuttle that is supposed to take you to the hospital for convenience, but it doesn't run any earlier than 6 AM. I understand that they have their reasons, but we had to check in at the hospital for a surgery /at/ 6 AM and had to take an Uber instead. What exactly is the point of having this service if it's not available for all transport to the hospital? As the patient, we had no other time we could have gone. We needed to check in at 6 AM, we did not have a say in the time of the surgery or the check-in. We had to pay for an Uber trip as we did not want to walk half a mile to the subway station before a surgery. Even when it is available, the shuttle is frequently late. This trip in particular, we waited over 15 minutes for the driver to be ready. In this time we could have walked to the closest subway station, gotten on the train, and been halfway to the hospital for the consultation already. At the front desk, we were told that the cleaning service would be by request only. Today, May 15, 2022, we were sitting in our room, with the Do Not Disturb sign on the handle. We heard the door open and someone tried to walk in, but left as soon as they saw us. I went to investigate, and it was a maid coming to clean the room. Why would she try to get in if 1) the cleaning service was by request only, and 2) we had a Do Not Disturb sign on our door handle? I am glad we were there, as I don't know what they would have done if the room was empty. It was a huge violation of privacy to try and enter our room when we were specifically told that that would not happen unless requested. Last year (May 2021), we had a gentleman, another guest, trying to get into our room. His keycard did not work, but we talked through the door at him and he had been told by the front desk that this room, our room, was assigned to him. He went downstairs and seemed to have figured it out as we did not hear him again, but I am at a loss for how this happened. How can a hotel double-assign rooms? Most of the times we have stayed here, we have had poor-quality appliances. Last year (May 2021), the tub drain had been yanked out from the floor. This year (May 2022), the air conditioner makes a loud screeching noise while in use. It is not a huge complaint for me personally, and I am not here for more than a week at a time, but if you plan on staying here, you should know. Another minor complaint is the wi-fi. It is absolutely abysmal. It goes in and out frequently, and I often have to end up using my cell phone data instead of the wi-fi. I understand that hotel wi-fi is never great, but as I require communication with my school and work, it is...

This place is hard to find and very confusing, even using GPS. It is in a very desolate area and no restaurants within a walking distance - at least not at night. The bathtub looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a month or two. Very little room when sitting on the potty. I found hairs (not mine) in the sink. Talking about the sink, there is almost zero room to put any toiletries around the sink. Closet door didn't close all the way without slamming it shut. Only 4 hangers and they weren't even in the closet. Only 2 plastic drinking cups in the room. No microwave oven in the room. Curtain rod on the floor. Telephone on desk did not work. Radio on clock-radio had almost no reception for a local radio station. Chair at desk doesn't lock into a sit-up position and it keeps sinking down to a low position which is no good when you are sitting at the desk. Non-working hairdryer. I didn't see an iron in the room. Dirty stained carpeting in the room. The TV channels were horrible - didn't even get some of the major network channels. I looked at breakfast and walked right out of the room. It looked like some dry cereal, waffle iron (maybe), scrambled eggs and what looked like boiled breakfast sausage. No dead bolt lock on room door which made me a little uncomfortable. Parking is extremely limited. If you want your room cleaned, you need to make an appointment for that to happen the day before and then you are not allowed to be in the room. They tell you this at check-in, and I usually leave when the cleaning person is in the room anyway, but to tell a guest this is rude.

Their website claims a 3.7 star hotel. Maybe 40 years ago, but not anymore. I would rate it a 1.5 on a good day. And as far as pricing, they are at the lower end but even that is way too much. Over $200 a night. It shouldn't be more than $150 and that's because it is in the Boston area. Other areas would have the price around $100 per night.

The best thing I could say about the hotel is that desk clerks, Wanda and Eddie, were very friendly and helpful. They did their best to make me feel welcome. The only other good thing is that the...
