Frank's Place — Restaurant in South Bend

I'd had high hopes since Frank's Place is under new management, but unfortunately those hopes were quickly dashed. First off, this place has no vibe whatsoever. It's too brightly lit, there's no memorable decor, and the jukebox is incredibly loud. They've failed to create any kind of welcoming, local bar atmosphere - I was ready to leave before my food hit the table. And then there's the food. Everything was overcooked and tasteless. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich (which came out as a fried one anyway) and a side of onion rings. My wife ordered the chicken tenders and fries. Everything was fried to oblivion. I've never had food that overcooked in a restaurant in my entire life. It bordered on inedible.

The bartender seemed friendly enough, but our waitress seemed generally annoyed that we were there. She did provide adequate service, but it definitely wasn't friendly or particularly timely.

In short, I wouldn't go back, I wouldn't join anyone who suggested that we eat there, and I definitely wouldn't recommend...

If I could zero, that's what I'd rate it. I'm sitting in their parking lot writing this review. Before I could get both feet in the door, the bartender (Melissa) tells me "we're closing early". I'm here to pick up an order that was placed. There wasn't an ounce of kindness in how she said it either. It was more like 'get out'. When I explained that I was there to get an order, she seemed even more irritated. After that, I told her that her customer service skills were poor. She told me that she's worked here for 10 years. Best bar food in South Bend Frank's Place is a enjoyable watering hole Nick & Frank great family business. Lowe & MaryAnn were 2 of the best behind the bar. They remember your drink of choice or introduce you to new pleasures with top shelf liquor. Then they would present the menu. Home Notre Dame games it's a must stop you won't be disappointed!
