Taqueria Reyes — Restaurant in South Bradenton

Stopped here due to 5 star reviews. Super nice ladies at the service window. English is not easily understood but they use a phone translator and I had no issues ordering. The portion sizes and prices are very fair. The food, I wish I could give a better review as the ladies are from Mexico and I'm half Mexican but the taste just wasn't there. The lettuce, avocado, cheese and crema toppings were very fresh but the stars of the show were underwhelming. The beef enchilada steak meat was very salty, black pepperish. The red sauce was too much in volume and flavor. It's all you taste. It's also a bit spicy. They said not spicy when I asked but if you are spice sensitive, it IS spicy. Husband had the chicken burrito. It was very "chicken forward" in the flavor profile. It tasted a lot like boiled chicken that had sauce ON it vs seasoned. It definitely needed lime wedges to brighten the flavors. They offered a green sauce but it was a "pickled" taste vs citrus. If there were beans on it, we couldn't taste them. We may try some...

I had the best steak torta in here, the bread was soft and fresh como acabadito de hacer, out of this world, Chesse got so much pull ,I crave the quesadillas just by watching someone eat it.
