A lot of people don’t seem to understand how this store works, and it shows in the recent reviews. It’s really not bad at all.
The Cayce lactation (on Knox Abbot) is the only location within 25 miles that actually bakes and fries the donuts freshly, and they make all the donuts for themselves and every other location within ~25 miles. The other stores (including this one) get their donuts sent to them daily in either the morning or early-afternoon.
The only things that are made fresh at these other locations (including this one) are drinks and the glaze that goes on the Original Glazed only.
So yes, despite the “Donut Factory” in the name, this location and many others besides the location on Knox Abbot can and will run out of donuts, especially the limited edition varieties and especially on busy days.
As a former employee of this location, I can also tell you that the place is severely understaffed. Most days, there’s usually one supervisor and one to two crew members on shift, which enough to keep the store running in some capacity but definitely not very smoothly.
National Donut Day (6/2) is also one of the busiest days of the year for this store, and if they were short staffed (they were), they would have closed the lobby off and gone to only drive-thru (they did, at some point in the morning). On days like Nat. Donut Day, you can expect the line to be long and probably move relatively slowly. (Not sure why people have gotten upset about that, if you go somewhere and the line of cars is wrapped around the building, you’re going to have to wait a bit, and the workers there are probably really stressed already. Use some common sense and empathy.) Other busy days include Graduation Day (free dozens to graduating seniors); most major national holidays (and like the week or two before them).
Again, the place isn’t stellar but there’s legitimate reasons for that, more often than not. And the people behind the counter and the drive thru speakers are human and have their own lives too, so before you blame and accuse them of something and start yelling at them, consider that the issue very well may not actually be in their control.
Also, get the rewards app if you want access to the deals they offer. Customers are supposed to show proof of having a coupon for many of the deals offered, digital or otherwise. This can be on the app itself or...
Read moreI sat in the drive thru a total of 30 minutes from ordering to getting my donuts! That is outrageous. But I ordered an assorted dozen. And the girl asked, "you said a dozen glazed"? I repeated, "No, I'd like assorted". The girl asked which donuts, so I listed that I wanted 3 boston kreme, 3 kreme filled, 4 glazed, and 2 chocolate sprinkled. (IM really disappointed to see they don't have an signature powdered donuts in stock btw) After sitting in line 20 minutes, I get to the window and the girl asked me if I ordered the dozen glazed donuts. NO! I ORDERED the dozen assorted. She said, "Oh, which ones was it"? By now im irritated. Ive said several times I wanted assorted, and if I had to list them at the menu, why didn't she write it down somewhere. Now I'm at the window without a menu and have to think. So I repeated, I wanted 3 boston kreme, 3 kreme filled, 4 glazed, and 2 chocolate sprinkled. Not only did she disappear for another 10 minutes, but she still got the assorted mix wrong. I GOT 3 glazed and 3 sprinkled. FINE! I'm not going to die. But I will say however, the glazed donuts were entirely too hot to be served to customers. The icing melted completely off of my glazed donuts, and was a puddle in the bottom of the box. To make matters worse, we are confident the donuts kept giving my family bellyaches every time we ate one. We ended up throwing away 5 donuts because we were afraid of another belly ache. Just sad to see krispy kreme is going down hill. Stop hiring teenagers with lack of manners, or sense of emergency and your business...
Read moreI purchased the July 4 donuts in advance. Every time I deal with seasonal donuts, we never can get them. Even when ordering in advance, the manager has told me that if he feels like he’s not gonna get them in then he will delete them off the app to be able to be selected by DoorDash. Sometimes he does that according to him and just allows people who stop in themselves to get it . So after he shares that information with me, I even try sending my husband or I will go myself and I’ll be told to come back after 1 o’clock and they still won’t be there when we do. Today what occurred was I put my order in at 5 AM for delivery at 9 AM and they had them available to select but now my DoorDasher says they don’t and now it’s a waste of their time. This has occurred so many times that I’ve already spoken to the manager about it and he had told me that he would try to work with me next time so when it happened today, I called up to the store and now they say he’s not there right this moment, but they won’t tell me when he’ll be back. So speaking to him is now impossible. I tried speaking with the other lady and and letting her know what all I’ve been through, but she had no care.. I don’t even understand why they have seasonal donuts if they will not allow people to order them even days in advance. Very much ready to strike Krispy Kreme off my list of ever going again because of...
