Update (2/2/2024): I have spoken with the franchisee/owner/Langley Management of the Parklane location. They sincerely apologized for my experience at their establishment and assured that they'd be handling the issue in the appropriate manner. I would advise everyone, if you have an issue at the restaurant, just call the 1-800 number that is on the sticker in the drive-thru and be sure to write down the store number. They are attentive to customer complaints. I'm updating my star rating to 5-stars based on the great conversation & resolution that I had with the franchisee on today. Original Issue: Today, free medium fries (no purchase required) were advertised in the mobile app. I went to the Parklane location with my the restaurant code for the fries pulled up. The girl on the loudspeaker greets me and asked me will I be using the mobile app, and I tell her yes. I told her that I have a code for the free fries, and then she proceeds to tell me that they can't take the codes right now. So I ask her why don't you all have a sign outside to let people know not to pull up the code? I also asked her why would they ask me if I'm using the mobile app if they aren't able to take codes from the mobile app? She said the manager just told her they can't use the codes. So, I pulled around to the window and asked for a manager to come & explain the issue with the restaurant codes. The manager (she claimed to be the General Manager) that came to the window was a woman with red dreadlocks with balls on the ends and tattoos all around her neck and all up the sleeves of her arms. She had a very stank/bad/off-putting attitude and rudely said to me that they could not take the codes because the codes kept "bouncing back" and "I been at work since 6am & multiple people have been having the same problem using their code. Y'all need to call the makers of the app because we just work there and we don't control the app!" I told her I didn't understand why she was telling me what time she got to work that day, b/c it's irrelevant to the issue. I then asked her why they didn't put a sign outside to let people know not to pull up the restaurant code if they know they've been having issues with it all day?? She was very rude and saying that she wasn't about to explain anything, and when I asked her for her name (she wasn't wearing a name tag, as she supposed to) she slammed the window in my face and stomped off. I pulled up to the second window to ask for one of the girls to give me her ("GM") name, and the other manager woman with a big synthetic wig and a blue collar shirt told them not to give me her name. The lack of a self-serve soda fountain in the dining area is also notable. More broadly, the overall atmosphere of this McDonald's is unwelcoming and even unsettling, a sentiment that stems directly from the staff's attitude, not its location. This is far from the welcoming experience one expects, even from a McDonald's.
Update: September 1, 2025, ~8:00 PM Tonight’s drive-thru experience at this McDonald’s was another letdown, echoing the same frustrating service described previously. I placed a simple order: a 10-piece nugget combo, large, with a Coke. To my disbelief, I was told they were out of large drink cups so I couldn't order a large combo. It’s hard to reason with that kind of logic, but I reluctantly agreed to a medium combo since it was apparently my only option. The employee then asked me to repeat my sauce and drink order, despite me already providing it. At the first window, payment was quick, but the second window was a disorganized mess. I had to repeat my order yet again, only to receive cold fries, no sauce, and no drink. After another 7-8 minutes of waiting for the order to be corrected, I was left with subpar fast food and a lingering question of whether to bother contacting the franchise or just let this location’s poor service run its course. Read moreToday is June 5 t h. I visited McDonald's on parklane in Columbia sc between 3- 4.30pm. I used the kiosk and my McDonald's app to order my food. A 6 piece happy meal and four piece tender meal. I used 6000 points to get my grand baby happy meal free. I pressed to pay at register. I told the young lady my order number was 842. She said she didn't see it. I told her it took my 6000 points. She proceeded to say she would look for the manager. The manager came up to help complete the order. I told her that the kiosk had already taken my points while showing her in the app. I was charged another 6000 points for the same happy meal I had already used 6000 for. While we were there I decided to dine in. We went to sit down to eat and the fries were super salty. After waiting 27mins for our food I really didn't want to return them but the fries are my grandbaby favorite thing. I went back to the counter and told the young lady and she took them back. I waited another 15mins for new fries. The staff was on their phones, sitting in the dining area while all these people were waiting. I want my points back. Or something.... this location was very good but it was an aweful experience today. The tall lady that managed that place was wonderful. She made sure it ran smoothly. Today that manager on duty did not care what was going on. The staff was taking drive through orders while sitting in the dining area. One young lady was on the phone talking to her baby daddy loudly. Just sad that these companies just want bodies never mind the customer service or food experience. Can I please have my points back?
