In a previous lifetime (almost 17 years ago) I was a computer repair technician myself. When my husband's computer broke down last night, I used my ancient troubleshooting steps to try to isolate the issue as far as I could at home.
We got the issue isolated to 2 components: The problem was either the GPU or the Motherboard. This is where we had to stop, as I didn't have replacements to test either component.
Wanting to get resolution as quickly as possible, I made an appointment here for the morning and brought the computer where I met James. Now James couldn't possibly have known that I was a former technician and that in my heart of hearts I knew we could discover the issue in 5 minutes or less by plugging a known good GPU into the system and testing to see if the issue was resolved. By scheduling the appointment I had tacitly acknowledged that I was paying to make this someone else's problem other then my own and there would be a cost for that :) ... what do you think happened though?
James ALSO knew right away that this issue could be isolated in less then 5 minutes and taking that extra 5 minutes would avoid a service charge for the customer ... so he just did it ... right then and there. I was in and out in 10 minutes with the issue isolated and a path to resolution. I was so overjoyed that he took care of it right there that I wanted to buy a replacement GPU directly from them instead of somewhere else! (They didn't have any at the time) ... so instead I promised to come here, write a review, and tell my friends about my experience.
The employees here do the right thing even to the detriment of their own metrics ... and that is the kind of service you hope for when you take your computer/phone/whatever in for repair at an electronics shop. So shoutout to James and shoutout to Emergency Tech Repair... I will most certainly be back in the unfortunate circumstance I need their help again and will recommend them to others due to the quality of their employees and...
Read moreI dropped off my iPad mini 5 for a screen repair on Saturday (5/18). The guy at the front was really friendly. It was around $230. I picked up my iPad mini 5 yesterday (5/20) which is a very quick turn around. When I went to go pick it up I was confident that they fixed the issue because why would I pay $230 for them not to fix the issue right? So I get home and I really start to analyze the iPad and I can immediately see that the screen is not flush to the iPad. It’s already lifting up from the base……it’s very apparent to see. You would think that there would be several people along the line who would notice this when they do the repair but either they didn’t care or they rushed the process. I am not a repair person but anybody with the naked eye can see that it wasn’t done correctly. I am not happy that I now have to go back to the store for them to fix their mistake. I really wanted this to be easy and streamline but it’s starting to become an inconvenience. I will be going back today (5/21) to see what they can do, and I hope not to be charged extra. Will update soon…..update they did repair the iPad and fix the issue. However I am only upgrading my 3 star review to a 4 star review because I feel this still should have been accurately assessed/ tested the first time...
Read moreWhat a day !!! I have a 14 year old daughter and her screen stopped working yesterday. Today I took it to my provider and with no luck they couldn’t fix it. They recommended that I go to Best Buy. The girl at Best Buy said that they didn’t have the tools for Apple devices that I should go to Apple Store. I proceeded to go to the Apple Store and that was a mess. They told me they needed Apple ID and password and that at a minimum it would cost 289.00 plus tax. We couldn’t access the Phone so I didn’t know the Apple ID password so I just left. One the way home I decided to just try one more time and I pulled into Emergency Tech Repair. I walked in and the owner Jared took the phone looked it up and found the parts and fixed it in 30 min. He didn’t need all the passwords and craziness that all the others need. He was an awesome guy to work with and the price was way cheaper. I can’t say...
