It deserves 2.5, but ill give it 3 because the food is good. That alone deserves 5 stars. Its the service. The service deserves zero stars. And thats not from any new help you might see, but from the family themselves.
So I will tell what happened tonight. And this is a repeat occurrence. I order, go in and pay and get food, and have to wait. Except tonight I did overhear my order number. Thats something not typically given out. Order 182 on July 2nd. So I'm told my order wasn't ready yet, but I did hear a new girl say order 182 was here. Except other people were also there, so not sure if it referred to me. So I see one box on top of the oven for 182. Okay, that was the calzone & sausage roll. The pizza was still cooking. And then a large mushroom pizza comes out, gets cut, and is placed on the oven.
Okay, the guy cooking is cooking. He doesn't know its my order. But I then watched the lady who took my payment, and another lady, move the two boxes for 182 4 times, to get other orders, while I was standing there. These were for people who were walking in, so they came in after the order was completed, not before.
Only after those left did she look and realize 182 was mine, and gave it to me. That was about 10 minutes later. 10 minutes my food was sitting on top of the oven and still needed to be driven home, instead of giving me my hot food when it was ready.
Typically they are so busy talking with friends that they forget the orders, but that was not the case tonight. It would seem talking with friends is not a reason to not realize a person is standing there and place their food on the oven.
I just want my food when its ready, not sitting on the oven waiting for me to arrive, and I've been there the whole time. And as I've said, this isn't the first time, but is pretty typical for me. Lesson learned, always ask for an order number, and watch and ask when given that number. If it wasn't for the taste of the food, I'd go to Gino's at the other end.
Update: I'm want to continue, in that I decided to write a comment online instead of saying something in person because for one reason or another, businesses seem to place social media comments highly. Everybody seeks that 5 star review on Google, Yelp, you name it. But what surprises me is that some of these reviews just say "pizza was meh" and the owner of the business responds. However, I gave a pretty detailed response about the order and my experience this time around, even with my order number, and I've heard nothing. That's surprising, and telling how much the business really cares about repeat customers. Sure, they have plenty of repeat customers; they're always talking to other transplants from up north in there. That's the issue, I'm waiting for my pizza to be done, it comes out of the oven and I don't know it's mine, the workers/employees are too busy talking with others, and once those people leave, then I get my pizza. Instead of getting it when it comes out. I've seen them put it on top of the ovens, and then proceed to move it around while getting others, then give me mine when they realize I've been standing there for 10 minutes or more and am still waiting for my pizza that was done 10...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe finally made our way up to Scotto's Pizzeria to see if their food is as good as we have heard. We were not disappointed! We took a late lunch, knowing Bike Week was in full swing, and wanting to miss the noon crowds. There were some locals there, with families, some couples, but we found a table for two and were immediately greeted my Tony, who just happened to be from Jersey. We knew we were in for "thin and crispy" Jersey/NY style pizzas just seeing the pies in the display case. The aroma in this place is incredible. We ordered a large sausage pie and two fountain drinks, knowing the pies here are huge, and we'd have some to take home for dinner. Ten minutes passed and Tony brought our pie, and it just fit on the table. It looked and smelled amazing. Could it be that we finally found a place that is not just pizza, but serves real Italian cuisine? I am a fan of Dave Portnoy and love his pizza reviews. I know he'd have given this pie, a 9.0 or better. "Just one Bite" and I thought I was back at Pete's in Trenton. The crust was thin and crisp and perfectly charred, but not burned. The sauce was like Nona's sauce, rich and truly home made. They make their own Mozzarella, daily. The sausage is brought down, fresh, from NY and cooked on premise, and it's top quality. They slice it long-ways and they cover the pie, all the way to the edges. In a word, excellent. And I love a place that uses real dishes and has fountain sodas, in the dining room, so you can get refills. The entire staff are so customer focused that you feel like family or a "regular" on the first visit. This little hidden gem is in a shopping center, but there's plenty of parking. My advice is to make the trip, dine in or take it home with you, but take some friends. The servings are generous and the pies are huge. Next time we're opting for Cheese Steaks, but I know we'll have to try some of the many specialty pies you can buy by the slice. Thank you Tony and Rocco's for your hospitality, great food and excellent service. When you have a craving for real pizza, this place is at the top of my list,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally wanted to like this place - there isnāt a ton of great pizza down here. Got a pizza on a Friday afternoon - it was the wrong pizza, had to fight the Friday traffic to get back to pizza shop while my family waited. I didn't receive a single cent off or even throw in a another item. I grew up in pizza shops - couldn't imagine my family not offering something in good faith to keep a customer.
Had high hopes for the pizza - got black olives on it and all i could taste was the juice from the olive can. was really unfortunate.
Garlic knots were great!
Cant say I wont go back - but probably wont if I can avoid it.
EDIT: since I donāt think I can reply to the owners response. No one understands making mistakes more than me - Iāve made more than Scottoās Iām sure. It is the idea of making it right with someone who WANTS to be a repeat customer. Nothing was offered to me when I came back so I asked if something could be thrown in - I did that because I realized how busy everyone was and was empathetic to the situation and figured that under normal circumstances someone would have offered me something but probably just forgot because there were many customers. When the person in charge looked at me and then looked back at the cashier and said ānoā they made it very clear that they didnāt care if I ever came back.
PS - if you would have said yea to throw in a Tira Misu that is marked $4.75 Iād be on here giving you plenty of praise and likely spent plenty more than $4.75 at your restaurant...
