A couple of coworkers and I decided to try out The Toasted Yolk for breakfast this morning. I had not had a chance to visit it since it opened recently, and after viewing the menu online I was excited to try it out. We were seated immediately upon entering and our server, Emma, was very prompt in coming to introduce herself and take drink orders. Though they have an extensive beverage menu (which had various tasty looking alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks listed) I opted for a regular coffee. The coffee was good and I appreciated the selection of creamers they gave, which included a few non-dairy options (and the mugs they have are so cool!) Our table started with the Churro Donuts. They quickly were brought out and we all agreed that they were delicious! They are a bit more cinnamon forward, but that helped cut down the sweetness of the donuts and accompanying caramel sauce. I chose the Breakfast Burrito for my entree. It was huge, and stuffed with eggs, green chilis, onions, potatoes, and turkey sausage (which I had asked for to sub the regular sausage it comes with). It’s then smothered in queso and pico de gallo. It came with a small side of fresh fruit and hash brown casserole. It was all fantastic. Our server, Emma, was wonderful. She was friendly and attentive. She came over to check on us multiple times, and was on top of everything. Glad to have another great option for breakfast here in Carolina Forest! I’ll definitely be bringing others here...
Read moreWe go out to eat quite often and we are always looking for the top local places to eat. I would consider us to be "Avid Foodies." We try to support local and support friends, but if we aren't pleased, we want to be honest. The food was great the first time we went, and the service was amazing. The management seemed to be doing great. Everyone was busy, and seemed well-trained and knowledgeable. As far as the food, there were many unique options on the menu, which you don't see in everyday places around Myrtle Beach, which we liked. However, we returned only to try more meals and were left feeling over-charged for the quality. The coffee is served hot, the fresh fruit was washed, portion sizes were great, quality of the food was mediocre, service was great, and the restaurant was very clean. Even though it is a new restaurant, we like to know that when we walk in we don't see a bunch of dirty dishes piled up on 25 different tables and nobody busing them. It was great to see everybody on top of everything and working hard. Pricing is high for what you get. Grits are lower grade, there is only biscuits, no toast, the pancakes were dry with a bitter taste to them. We generally order the same item at all of our favorite breakfast spots, and we compare quality, presentation, and price. After considering the prices, the quality here did not meet the mark compared to several other places. For us, it has to be more than atmosphere to warrant an...
