Coming from SF, had tons Chinese food in SF Chinatown, traveled many states on business trips, know authentic flavors v. China Wok's soy sauce flavors on almost all dishes ordered ( Pon Pon chicken order, they inadvertently gave us the wrong order of chicken chow mein, no biggie, 2 star in flavors); chicken tasted like its leftovers, tough-hard, not crispy-moist, won ton soup; 2 star, a very powerful onion acid smell, onion acid multiplies into soup base with dark soy sauce.
Singapore noodles 3 star, shrimp chow mein 3 star, noodles drenched with soy sauce soaked to noodles as as if soup) all dishes tasted the same, soy sauce.
Generous portion with chicken, shrimp. Ordered online, tipped $4, when picked up order (this was the first time we tried China Wok) extended thank you when walked up to pick up our food, the guy behind the counter heard me thanked them, they weren't busy, didn't say anything, walked away, instead of responding in a small gesture thank you, come again or thanks, see you again.
There are lots of Asian restaurants in the area, for us, we will not be returning. An overview, a 2 star in whole.
The soy sauce flavors still lingers in our taste buds. They could step up, use various seasonings/sauces, make it authentic. A simple greeting Hello, Hi, friendly gesture or thank you for coming would...
Read moreThis place is seriously the WORST Chinese food I've ever had! My normal place, China Chefs, is closed Tuesdays so I decided to give China Wok a try. I ordered two hours ahead of time for a later delivery time and they were still 20 minutes late. The food that came was terrible - like Panda Express seems like gourmet, authentic Chinese next to them. The lo mein was SPAGHETTI noodles, with no flavor. The kung pao chicken was deep fried pieces of chicken with a few pieces of celery, a couple carrots, and some peanuts in a not at all spicy sauce (who breads and deep fries kung pao!). The fried rice came in the tiny box that steamed rice comes in (rather than the larger entree size box) and again had no flavor. Overall this seemed like food my neighbor who puts ketchup on her tacos would make and call "Chinese food." Just terrible! No idea where these positive...
Read moreWe stopped by here on our way back to St. George with a friend who lives nearby. I was impressed with how good it was. We got the family dinner for 2 with chicken lo mein, ham fried rice and orange chicken. It also came with 2 egg rolls. I ordered also egg drop soup. And one drink. I believe it came out to about 43.00, which isn't bad because we had enough to take home and we ate it again at least 3x. The lady who brought our food to us was very sweet and if she was the one doing the cooking, she did great. It was good food. Definitely recommend, especially because it can be difficult to find a good Chinese place and sometimes they're few and far between, but this ones a keeper. Atmosphere was relaxed, not many other people in there. This was Saturday afternoon, so I hope more people go here...
