BLUF: 4-stars specifically for the Shaw's location in Wakefield ; 3-stars for Shaw's overall (i.e. most of my cons are against the Shaw's sale methodology in general and NOT against the location in Wakefield -- I love the Wakefield store itself).
Pros: (1.) the physical layout is good (it's easy to find things). (2.) the employees who work there are great/helpful. (3.) the quality of the food / produce from the store is good. (4.) Using customer service in the store and over the phone has always been a positive experience (unfortunately, I seem to have to use both pretty often because of poor experiences with the 'ForU' and 'Fab 5/Mix-and-Match' sales ; see cons).
Cons: (1.) the phone app is sort of slow and clunky to use and you need to 'clip' deals on the app to get the best sales. (2.) the big 'ForU' sale items from the meat section almost always sell out quick -- it's a gamble trying to get sales for things like ground beef or chicken (of any cut / variety) before they're all gone. (3.) When the 'ForU' sale items sell out, other brands / products that are incredibly similar to the 'ForU' items magically seem to end up on the shelves under the big signs in the store advertising the low, phone-app-only sale price... ...(3a.) If you don't remember every distinct detail for the advertised 'ForU' sale down to (i.) the exact product from (ii.) a specific brand at (iii.) the very specific quantity or size pertaining to the sale, you'll end up with something in your cart that you thought was on sale (because the item was physically in the store underneath the sale advertisement...), but you don't find out it wasn't until you're (i.) checking out (if you're lucky) or (ii.) when you're reviewing your receipt when you get home. ...(3b.) You'd want to think that adding an item that is physically on a shelf underneath a 'ForU' sale advertisement means that the advertised sale applies to that item, but in my experiences, it's a common occurrence that's not the case. ...(3c.) Again, I don't have anything but positive things to say about customer service, but it seems I have to use them often (same for #4 below). (4.) The 'Fab 5 / Mix-and-Match' sales -- as advertised in the Shaw's mailed paper advertisement (if you buy 5 or more items from a particular list, you get a sale price applied to all) -- just flat out never seem to apply...

Read moreI used to shop exclusively at Stop & Shop, I’m not sure why, but I was always under the impression that Shaws was sub car, and Stop & Shop was the standard. I was wrong I have had very much success shopping at Shaws, the meat, the produce, the price and variety of selections, keep me coming back week after a week to save the most amount of money in the least amount of time I especially enjoy putting my order in on the app it lets you pick all the coupons you want to use and I save so much more money than I used to just walking around in the store. The people who work at this store are great. The only problem I have is their brown paper bags really stink. They will fall apart and break very easily. So I just bring my own bags when I’m...
