Bert's Cafe in South Lake Tahoe undoubtedly lives up to its reputation as one of the best brunch spots in town. From the scrumptious food to the friendly service, this charming establishment offers a delightful dining experience. While the wait time can be long, the overall experience makes it well worth it. Here's a review highlighting the highlights of Bert's Cafe:

Amazing Food and Great Service: Bert's Cafe truly excels in delivering an exceptional culinary experience. The food we sampled, including the make-your-own omelette, freshly squeezed orange juice, and toast with jam, was absolutely delectable. The omelette was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavorful ingredients, while the toast provided a comforting accompaniment. The freshness of the orange juice added a refreshing touch to the meal. Additionally, the friendly and attentive service further enhanced our dining experience, making us feel welcomed and well-cared for.

Fun Facts: Bert's Cafe has a rich history, having been a beloved establishment in South Lake Tahoe since 1966. It has remained a local favorite for generations, attracting both visitors and locals alike. The cafe's charming interior showcases vintage decor, creating a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere that adds to the overall charm of the place. It's like stepping back in time while enjoying a delicious meal. Bert's Cafe takes pride in sourcing local ingredients whenever possible, ensuring the freshest and highest quality flavors in their dishes. This commitment to supporting local producers adds an extra touch of authenticity to the dining experience.

Long Wait Time: One aspect to be aware of when visiting Bert's Cafe is the potential for a long wait time. During peak hours, it's not uncommon to wait for almost an hour to be seated. However, while the wait may test your patience, the exceptional food and friendly service make up for the delay. Arriving early or planning your visit during off-peak hours can help minimize the wait time.

Operating Hours: Bert's Cafe operates from 7 am to 2 pm, providing a delightful brunch experience for early risers and those seeking a late breakfast. The limited hours add to the exclusivity and charm of the cafe, making it a sought-after destination for brunch enthusiasts.

In summary, Bert's Cafe in South Lake Tahoe stands as a top-notch brunch spot, offering amazing food and great service in a charming setting. Wow, what a charming place! We stopped here on Easter Sunday and sat at the bar. The staff here is stellar, from the friendly hostess to the wait staff and the cooks. We had a great view of part of the kitchen and couldn’t help it but see how well these people work together, like this is a song they have all been singing together for years. My date and I split a pecan waffle as a appetizer, I ordered the crepes Benedict, he had the California omelet. The hollandaise sauce is made in house by scratch along with a slew of other goodies like the gravy, home fries, biscuits and more. There were cute Easter eggs hidden under our coffee mugs. So the food, it’s fantastic but honestly don’t waste space with the hash-browns, the home fries are 100x better, very crunchy and seasoned to perfection, where the hash browns were a lacking in crunch. Pts (the home fries are made in house.) Nearing the end of our feast our waitress brought us a order of biscuits and gravy that the kitchen made by accident, BONUS FOOD! We were stuffed from the large portions but being from the South, land of biscuits and gravy, we couldn’t turn them down. Also a very large portion. This gravy is the best white gravy I’ve ever had, chunks of Smokey bacon and a hint of chipotle, perfect consistency and the biscuits... Just like home, giant fluffy clouds of goodness...

My husband surprised me with a visit to Bert's on a beautiful April morning for our anniversary. He found many great reviews on Tiktok and because I am a lover of hot chocolate and he loves biscuits and gravy, he knew this place would definitely make our morning perfect. It definitely did. First off the greeting there was warm and friendly. They really know how to make you feel welcomed. The coffee is excellent 👌. You can feel the vibe the staff as a whole has, and that is super cool. They all work well and have a really good time. The menu is wide and exciting 😋 so much to choose from. Kinda makes you think ahead for your next visit lolWash.. I had corned beef hash, sausage, eggs with hashed browns, toast WOW so good... my husband had biscuits and gravy eggs, bacon, homefries and steak.. OMG.. there was so much food.. and it came so quick. It was all so delicious 😋 But most importantly- the HOT CHOCOLATE... it was legendary!! It was most yummy. The presentation was eye pleasing and exciting and the taste seriously was so delicious. I want to go back just for that and then the food hehehe.. The price is very reasonable as well. Because everything was great and the people were wonderful we left a great tip. I would highly suggest going there. It's a comfortable place to sit and have a great meal. You won't be...
