September 14th 2025 update, photos added at end- Had the pleasure of visiting a 3rd time and meeting again with our friends Isabelle and Max, and the formidable Chef Krug. Also had the privilege of meeting Helen, the perfectly gracious and accomplished proprietress of the restaurant. Exquisite to experience the themes and variation evolution of the dishes. Highlights from this particular evening include: • Mushroom risotto incorporating Fava beans inserts of asparagus for greater textural harmony • Fluke with more tempered garlic flavor allowing sweetness of polenta to feature more prominently • Swordfish accompaniments orzo having more feta melted in for further creaminess, olive tamponnade topping as sweeter offset to the seafood brine • Hudson Valley duck breast with gentler sear and more moisture, masterful pairings of strawberry and rhubarb as a jam sauce and of honey and lavender as a sauce garnish • Chocolate ganache shaped as a truffle versus cake wedge for textural contrast between shell exterior and moist center Another perfectly culinary experience thanks to the formidable Bistro d'Azur Team!

July 20th 2025 update, photos added- Trying to convey how phenomenal this restaurant and team - shoutout to Isabelle and Fernando! - without writing a whole novel here. Visited again, this time on a Sunday evening. Was fortunate to have coincided with the special escargot amuse-bouche gift. Perfectly tender and buttery with hint of sweetness. Standout features among the dishes on the 5 course chef's tasting menu: •Fruits de mer: the most succulent fresh seafood melange with spike of acidity in the dressing •Spring risotto: unique flavor dimension with the Fava beans; the most satisfying chew on the risotto grains •Watermelon and feta with serrano ham, beautifully arranged as a rosette, and arugula: perfect summer sweet-salty balanced refresher •Grilled octopus: resplendent with accompanying hummus spread, spices, and micro-diced vegetables •Golden tilefish: shatteringly crispy skin with tender flaking flesh on the fish, special blend of warm toasted herbs on the sauce •Fluke with browned butter: amazing sear and al dente texture on the fish, crispy fried Fava beans nicely contrasting •Venison rib chop: UTTER MAGIC, mind-bendingly tender magenta colored rib chop •Duck breast: exquisite foie gras wild rice with lavender honey sauced and rhubarb complementing juicy duck breast with torched crisp skin •Chocolate ganache cake with a darling lemon custard mini vol au vent and fruit garnishes Tremendous thanks to Chef Richard Krug, a veritable maestro of tastes and textures. Such a pleasure to have had the chance to meet him in person!

From May 14th 2025- Absolument fantastique. If any restaurant in NJ were to be michelin star rated, this would be. Massimo welcome us early, Rain (Reign?) took great care of us through the chef's 5-course tasting menu. Every dish was a kaleidoscope of flavors, textures, and color. •Spring risotto with grains impossibly flavorful from the savory mushrooms and creamy from the marscapone •Grilled octopus stunningly tender with earthy herbal hummus and a refreshing spike of acid •NJ fluke beurre noisette with perfectly seared crush and flaking tender flesh •Scallop with cinnamon reduction delightfully innovative •Lamb chop done to medium rare perfection •Duck breast bearing a uniquely seasoned crust paired with roasted vegetables •Chocolate ganache and fruits make for a...

I had ordered and picked up from Bistro d’Azur a few times during covid but never eaten in. I am so grateful I wound up here tonight. I don’t necessarily like having worded it that way but my mother and I had gone to another restaurant for a reservation to celebrate my birthday and walked out because the service was awful. Since we walked out of the first restaurant we needed an alternate restaurant to celebrate at. Since I loved the take out I suggested we try the dining in.

From the moment we walked in I knew it was the right choice. Zayd greeted us and graciously seated us, he was our waiter for the remainder of the night, he was amazing-polite, attentive without being overbearing, he was extremely well versed with the menu and was able to describe each item perfectly we gave him our choices when uncertain of which to order and took his recommendations. I know we were both very happy with our orders! I ordered the pan seared scallops for my appetizer, perfectly pan seared! My Mom had the lobster crepe, so delicate and delicious.

Main course I had the salmon with quail egg. I asked to opt out of the potato since I am doing my best with keto, they offered more veggies. That was perfectly fine with me, I was happy I received extra because even their ratatouille is amazing and that was the veggie. My Mom ordered the pepper crusted veal (oh no, it might have been venison-oops not my order can’t remember exactly) whatever the meat was it was incredible, perfectly cooked, tender and seasoned to perfection! My mom complimented the glaze more than once.

I did break my diet by splitting the creme brûlée with my mom but trust me it was worth it!

Just a note, Zayd was our primary server and was amazing but every other server who delivered a dish or cleared one was just as amazing, everyone was so polite and professional! Kudos to the chef for the amazing menu and kudos to management for hiring and training such a great staff....

I had the absolute pleasure of hosting my daughter's bridal shower at Bistro d’Azur, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the entire experience. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was clear that we had chosen the perfect venue for this special occasion. First and foremost, I must commend the exceptional service provided by Isabelle the Maître D and the entire staff. Their attention to detail and commitment to making every moment perfect truly made this day unforgettable. They went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt welcome and comfortable, and they were always ready to assist with a warm smile. The venue itself was nothing short of enchanting. The ambiance was elegant and the beautifully decorated space created a magical atmosphere that left everyone in awe. Whether it was the stunning huge floral arrangement or the charming table settings, every detail was meticulously thought out and executed flawlessly. The food served was nothing short of a culinary delight. The menu was diverse and catered to various tastes and dietary preferences, and the presentation was impeccable. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the delicious and the delectable menu. Chef Richard Krug created a work of art, both in appearance and taste. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Bistro d’Azur for any special occasion, especially a bridal shower. The combination of a stunning venue, a dedicated team, and outstanding service creates an unforgettable experience. My daughter's bridal shower was truly a dream come true, thanks to owner Mary and the entire staff. It was a day we will cherish forever, and we are grateful to have chosen such a remarkable restaurant for this momentous occasion. Thank you for making it...

As a lover of French food, I have returned to this place now 4 times. They had me at the first. The lovely dining room puts you at ease and creates a cozy space within which to enjoy delectable fare. The staff is very helpful and attentive without being overbearing, from the wait staff, bus boys, hosts and owners, it’s clear they are glad to have us over. My favorite apps are the foie gras which I call ahead for, the lobster crepe featuring chunks of the stuff, the duck confit salad and of course the seafood plate. The grilled octopus was delish. The paella is rich, the bouillabaisse is so flavorful, while the lamb chops and the NY strip steak were nice and juicy. Next I will try the fish. The obligatory crème brûlée dessert is on the menu along with some chocolate delights and a fruit medley. This place has earned my respect and my return business. Without being a presumptuous copy cat, The owners have recreated a delightful and realistic French dining experience right here in northern NJ, equaling the cuisines Francaises of the big city, and at liquidation prices, compared to the greats in Manhattan. They also offer a nice selection of local wines and mocktails. You must try it for a proper French dining experience and a nice evening out.
