Hi-Life Burgers — Restaurant in South Pasadena

Very tasty food, their Bacon cheese Burgers taste awesome and they use legit bacon! It's not like the other BIG Franchise restaurants (Mc) or (JITB) where you get this thin sun dried tasting Bacon. These guys are the real deal! Their chicken bowls are also great and they even have kids meals too where they give a ton of fries with the kids meal order. They accept cash and credit cards, the the wait time is not long at all.

Update: 10/18/2022 so I came back to get more food for my family and I and was disappointed by two things that have happened after leaving the review on the top. 1 the fries tasted like fish and I'm allergic to fish so that ruined my craving for fries. 2. I had ordered a Rib eye steak plate with fries and a salad and was given fried fish. I came back before they closed to correct the problem and was disappointed at the customer service I received that day. What I expected was an apology and a correction to the order I actually placed, however what I got was a cash refund because I was short $4.00 for an order i thought I thought I had already paid for using my debit card, I forgot my wallet because I was angry at the fact I got fish when I had ordered a rib eye steak, my mistake was NOT checking the order before leaving the restaurant as I have purchased many meals from here and never had a problem. I don't understand why they just couldn't wave the $4.00 upcharge for the screw up and made things right instead they chose to lose put on a sale. Always has been and probably always will be the best place in town! Awesome Mexican food awesome American food even Greek salad now they have everything! Been coming here since it was an outdoor joint when I was a child and it is still the best burger and kind of mixed American Mexican and even adding some Halal items as well now. One thing I must say is Hi life Burgers is notorious for having the best chili cheese Fry's in the entire area I don't know I've never had better chili cheese fries in my life then Hi-Life burgers!! Oh and let me not forget this is the only place that I know of where you can get a true suicide made properly! If anybody knows what a suicide is it's a mixture of all the different sodas except for diet obviously but you have to have the Fanta Cheri and the orange along with the root beer in the Coke in the seven up and they know how to mix it just right! Every time I go there I know that that drink is going to be tasting just the same as it did 30 years ago! The only downfall is that they have taken a couple things off of their menu that I really miss like the extra large sodas and their ice cream cups. But there is so much selection it's just you have to go there more than 5 * 2 even experience a taste of what they have to offer! I take people there once and they are hooked. My late husband rest in peace would drive 2 hours from the Indian Reservation where we lived all the way out to South Pasadena just for the burgers and chili cheese fries and burritos...

I used to love this place, and would get food from them at least once a week, but I just had the most irritating experience tonight.

I came in and ordered two combos, the burger and chili dog come out right away, but the sides took forever. After 15 minutes, one side finally comes out, and I hear the counter employee repeatedly ask for "small cheese fries" at least half a dozen times. The cooks in the back were just chilling and a few customers who ordered after me got their orders and left. After 30 minutes, my order is finally ready, I get home to a cold burger, cold chili dog... and cold cheese fries! The didn't even prepare them correctly, and I had to heat them up to melt the cheese on the cold fries. They even forgot the ketchup!

Look, it wasn't even busy tonight and the guy that took my order was on it, but the cook staff just don't care anyone. I've noticed the quality of the food and cooking slipping over the last few months, but tonight was just insulting for a regular customer. I've decided to find another burger joint and give them a few months. Maybe if their sales drop as loyal customers go elsewhere, they'll reevaluate their cooking attitudes and policies. I just hate when previously good restaurants start treating their customers like crap... but I guess I'm not a...
