Lost parrot. I actually heard some wild parrots in the trees where I parked on Fletcher. If you're not familiar with the wild parrots around Los Angeles, I recommend looking up the lore. It's pretty interesting. As you walk up to Lost Parrot, you'll come across some nice cozy outdoor seating. The teak/ wooden furniture is situated under the tall shady eucalyptus trees that line the front of the cafe on Huntington Dr. Looks as though they set the tables and chairs out every day. To me, that says a lot about this spot already. They work hard to create a good experience for their customers. I was excited to try it. Plus I arrived just as the baked goods were being delivered for the day. I saw a stack of boxes, each filled with delicious fresh baked goodies from Homeboy Bakery! IYKYK Walking in, there are plants adorning the shelves, nooks and crannies. There's little spot for local business cards and small posters for local businesses / events. Some obscure Indy rock music plays in the background. There's a large main room that has very high ceilings and lots of seating with plenty of space between the tables. It definitely feels like the neighborhood gem in there.
Mars helped me out. He was super sweet. He's warm and inviting. Has a bunch of cool tattoos. He's so tall and omg, he was like.. umm eh ehm... let' me get back to the coffee. Okay so l ordered a drip coffee, right?. And I like my coffee black with a little sweetener. Simple drink but black coffee is a great way to test out a new coffee spot, IMO. Well let me tell you, the drip coffee was SOOO yummy! And if you're drinking it there you have the option of drinking it out of a big ceramic cup as well i free refills! Whoa!? So much on the menu. I recommend the avocado toast and of course any of the baked goods. Definitely...
Read moreLost Parrot Cafe (est in June 2018) is a cute local corner coffee shop-diner at Huntington dr and Fletcher ave on South Pasadena. They offer American style food with a Latin/Pacific fusion. Taking a cue from the local birds often found in the area, the LPC lures customers in with crafted coffees and board games, books and plants. Indoor atmosphere was welcoming and inviting. Interior decor has live plants, books, board games and a piano. Interior dining area were spacious, organized, neat and well lit. Morever, they have a small full bar at the back that added more seating capacity. Outdoor front patio seats were spacious. We came here on a weekend and it's line was short but the place was packed. Luckily we were able to get a high table at the rear by the full bar. Staff were amiable, competent and professional. Service was fast and reliable. We ordered the vegan blueberry two stack pancakes (with ricotta syrup and powdered sugar), reg coffee and orange juice. The blueberry pancakes was soft, thin and fluffy, and flavorful. Syrup was thick and sweet. Coffee was brewed perfectly. OJ was fresh. We liked how it's a self-service (i.e. ☕ coffee, water, utensils) type of coffee shop. Prices were reasonable and competitive for South Pasadena area. Overall, we had a good breakfast and dining experience. And we highly...
Read moreI’ve driven by many times and finally stopped. This cafe has tables outside in front of the entrance. It always seemed to be a great place to just hang out.
The name is kind of odd. I wondered why it was called Lost Parrot Cafe and thought - meh - and walked in. I ordered a chocolate croissant and an oatmilk latte. The cash register guy was nice.
The inside was full. I wanted to sit near their huge windows to watch cars and people go by but since there was nowhere to sit I went outside. It wasn’t really that cold so it was ok.
I sat there for a while and a bit later a young lady brought my things. The latte was just fine. It came in a large traditional latte mug. The croissant was really big. A bit too fluffy. They give you a knife and fork to break it down I guess. That’s what I did anyway. It was decent. It was hollow. It wasn’t flaky.
The people watching here isn’t great. Kind of a let down. Come to think of it, I should have expected it. There aren’t many businesses around. It’s a residential area. There aren’t many people walking by.
This cafe would be a great place to bring a laptop and write or do some work though. It’s quiet. Even outside it’s quiet. Perfect place to relax and look into the sky for the lost parrot this place may be named after.
Street parking and there’s a lot...
