Extremely bland food. So greasy, the paper bag the food was held in ripped open on two of its corners WHILE IT WAS JUST SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE CAR. And I noticed this about 2 minutes after leaving the restaurant. Packets of malt vinegar and lemon juice offered, but no regular ketchup! They charged $0.95 for an extra side of "sauce", which tastes like a mixture of ketchup and cheap horseradish heavily diluted with vinegar. Couldn't find a clean table to sit down at while waiting for my food to be cooked. Floor was also filthy. The fries were squishy and wet in the middle but too hard on the ends to even eat. The chicken fingers must have been left in the fryer too long because I couldn't eat these either; they were hard as rocks. The shrimp are somehow connected together to form what resembles a chicken finger. These had the consistency of rubber with sharp, hard as rock shrimp tails throughout the whole thing. How hard would it be to de-tail the shrimp before throwing into the deep fryer? Boy was that an unpleasant surprise! Have you ever accidentally bit into a tortilla chip vertically? Same feeling when biting into an unexpected shrimp tail. The crab cakes were the only thing with flavor, but the fact that they were TINY (the size of a penny!) killed any appeal. $10.40 for each combo meal, without including a drink, is an outrageous price to charge for cheap, oily food. This was my first time eating here and will definitely be my last. I will NOT be going back there. I...
Read moreWe came and got a couple of meals and the breading is totally different from what it has been for over 60 years. What happened and why did it change? I've only seen a couple of reviews on here that people complained about but they don't know that this is a place to go for us natives. Please change it back or we will not be back
Reply to the owners response: I used to work there when Andy & Bill Best owned it. Sue was their mother. The breading recipe was hers. I worked from 4am until close most days. Mary & I took pride in making sure that the fish & shrimp were prepped correctly each morning.
If you have a staff meeting, maybe you could pose the question to each of your employees, " Would I serve this to my family?"
On previous orders, I, unfortunately, have received food that was burnt, or old looking, cold fries. The last time I came in there, we got our food to go. The girl told us not to close the bag otherwise the fish and shrimp would be soggy by the time we got home. I've always closed the bag and never had that problem. Maybe she said that due to the recipe changing?
I'm on a fixed income to where I can only treat myself once a month. It's a very disheartening when I spend my money on food that I'm craving (yes, i do love it when prepared correctly) and it's changed, burnt or cold, I feel like I've been taken...
Read moreWent Sunday 01/24/2021 was looking forward to getting takeout from Sue's. My boyfriend and I got close to 50.00 worth of food. When you do take out everything's packaged and put in bags. I've never had any issues before so never felt the need to look through my food before I left. I got home and all of our french fries were burnt. I called as soon as I got home and I spoke to somebody at the restaurant. She took our name and phone number down and told me that next time we came in our fries would be replace free of charge...LOL.. I asked her how would this help me today? If I did decide to go back and I order a family meal which I normally do, fries are always included. She told me to call the next day and talk to the owner, I did call today and the owner apparently is only there from 9 to 9:30.
I was super disappointed with my food Sunday it ruined our entire dinner. The fries were dark, hard and had a horrible taste..what was more disappointing is how employees handle things. They didn't try to make things right and for the price we paid I think some kind of effort could have been made. They took our name and number yesterday and no phone call or attempt was made to...
