We used to patronize this restaurant when it was a different name and owner, and we loved their food. After that closed, we tried the replacement and were super disappointed and never went back. When Los Mezquites took over, we wanted to give them a try since the Drexel location has great reviews. I'm so glad we did.
We went for the breakfast buffet but went late enough that we overlapped into the lunch buffet as well. The food was delicious. My friend wasn't a fan of the red menudo. I didn't have any this time around, so I can't comment on it.
The breakfast consisted of bacon, fried weenies, chilaquiles (red and green), scrambled eggs with red chili, papas with chorizo, regular scrambled eggs, menudo (red and white), corn and flour tortillas, pancakes, cereals, cake, salsas, fixings for everything, frijoles (beans). I had almost everything.
AND THEN, since we were there, I had some food from the lunch buffet - mini chimi, crunchy taco, rolled taco, red chili con carne, and I had to stop. It was all good.
The servers were all kind and attentive.
They have only been open for about a month. Get on over there and try it. I believe you can order off a menu too, but don't quote me. I really didn't check because I was focused on the buffet. We thought the price was reasonable for all the food that was offered, plus we didn't get to everything so we'd leave some for other people to try. LOL
And I apologize - I was so hungry, I forgot to...
Read moreWent there Sunday for dinner and service was not good the server did not come to our table but once to bring our drinks I asked her for a cup of ice and it never came she was more into serving drinks to the three tables around us that's why I left her NO TIP ( I usually tip well ) They claim to have the Best menudo in town it was more like the best homeny no beef only bones ,the stuffed green chiles where not even fully cooked the Chile was hard and cheese unmelted had no real flavor, the potato tacos no beef in them potatoes also half raw and very hard to chew , fried chicken pieces burnt,I do gotta say the beans did have a good taste but to pay 75 $ for three people it's not good never will I eat there again also there was no plates to begin we had to ask for plates to serve ourselves...over all I would not recommend this establishment food not fully cooked ,bad service and over price ...I of would understand if the restaurant was full but it was empty the owners sitting on a far table and the service staff b.s not attending their customers...for good Mexican food I would recommend a place called Delicias on 12 ave may not be buffet but service is always good appetizers are great and the food is delicious my favorite Mexican restaurant seafood plates are fresh and tasty...
Read moreCan we get Rigo's back? High prices, and a mixed bag of offerings make me say pass to future visits at the 4th Avenue restuarant.
This current iteration of a Mexican food buffet at this address does not match the previous restaurant.
But not all is bad. My wife loved the Menudo, the birria was good and the mini chili rellenos were good.
There was very little carne or pollo to be found in the tacos and rolled tacos. More prevalent was the use of papas and tortilla. A carb delight.
The salsa offerings were limited. The red salsa/hot sauce was bland. The green avocado-based salsa was almost too spicy.
Trying a new place, we made our meal work, but then when we paid our bill we found that this so-so lunch was $18.99, not including the 2 drinks. We walked out paying $51, not including a tip for the server.
The value/quality/presentation of the food does not match the prices, and yes, I am well aware of inflation.
Asadero Los Mezquites will not be added to our list of go to places for Mexican...
