After what happened this evening, I will never be ordering from Avellino's ever again. We have been getting Avellino's for years, ordering faithfully at least once a month, but usually more. We ordered our food and we were told that it would take 45 minutes. We called an hour in to get an update and told it was "in process". 30 minutes later our food finally came. The woman, who was later identified as the owner, stated that the bag had fallen over and the sauce from one of our dishes had gotten all over the bag. She proceeded to step into my home telling me her intent to go with me to check the food to make sure it was okay. I told her twice to stop coming into my home, finally listening that I did not want a stranger in my home during a pandemic. I went into my kitchen to check the food so the lady would not come into my home. She stood in my hallway and tried to pet my dogs who were barking at her and going crazy because a stranger was in their home. She tried to get one of my dogs to come see her until my mother had to step out and tell her to leave our home to which the woman responded "I want to make sure the food is okay." and took one step back. When you are asked to leave someone's home, especially if you don't know who they are, you oblige them. You do not continue to stand there stubbornly. I have no idea if she was vaccinated, if she had COVID or anything. It is absolutely terrifying and invasive to have someone walk into your home like they own it. My mother called to complain about the woman entering our home. She was met with "I'm sorry ma'am."s but nothing else. Without any sort of resolution, my mother became frustrated and hung up on the person on the phone. As we settled in just to at least eat after such an experience, we realized that we didn't get the drink we ordered. My mother decided to call back, once again asking to speak to the manager from before. She explained that we were frequent customers and how the service and food had gone downhill in recent times. Instead of apologizing, she was told that they were understaffed. While we understand that times are hard, especially for restaurants, we at least expect the order to be correct. With no resolution from the restaurant, my mother once again hung up on the manager with a promise that we would never order from Avellino's again. A few minutes later we received a call from Avellino's which we thought was the manager to try to rectify the situation. Instead of the manager we got the driver who identified herself as the owner of Avellino's. She began berating my mother almost instantly. My mother tried to speak, but the owner continued to speak over her. My mother asked if she was just going to speak over her the entire time and the owner said "I don't care what your daughter said.." to which my mother hung up on her.
As previously mentioned, we have been ordering Avellino's for years. We have enjoyed their food time and time again. Recently, the food and service has been going downhill. What was supposedly a 45 minute delivery doubled in time and ended with my home being violated by someone I did not know during a pandemic with no mask on. Our food was lukewarm at best due to the long delivery time, we did not receive our full order, and there is no accountability it seems. What was supposed to be a fun treat turned into an uncomfortable situation. I think it's safe to say we will not be ordering from Avellino's ever again. I wish there was a better resolution to this, but with the owner of Avellino's calling back just to berate my mother after walking into my home and having to be told 3 times to leave our home?...
Read moreMy husband visited Avellino's last night so I could have a night off from cooking dinner. If I could rate this establishment and our experience last night I'd give them a sad and disappointing zero. The ordeal tonight was the most awful, unsettling, and degrading experience. We started patronizing Abellino's years ago without any noticeable issues but this time we were treated so poorly by the employees especially from one racist crew member in particular he was downright despicable boldly making comments under his breath that he assumed my husband couldn't hear but did and so did one of the hostesses, therefore, he was sent home while my husband walked out behind him to leave with 2 pizza pies this "worker" closed the door in my husbands face. We ordered/paid online and was given an expectant ready time of 7:18 pm. A manager was requested but no one cared to look for his order or even locate a manager to discuss/resolve this matter. When he finally received our food it was ice cold. Only one hostess that repeatedly apologized showed any concern regarding this mistreatment. This is certainly not the customer service we are accustomed to receiving when spending our hard-earned money. I wouldn't recommend patronizing this establishment ever again to allow this type of small-mindedness in their place of business dealing with different cultures. He and I will definitely spread the word around our neighborhood and at our place of employment. I've been told that Mike McCune owns this establishment and that the day shift is totally different from the night. During the day Ms. Peggy and Ms. Shirley are the cooks there I wonder if they are aware of such blatant racism...
