I don't normally write reviews unless I've had either a really really good experience, or a really really bad one... Luckily here it was the former.
I understand "Brixx Wood Fired Pizza" is a franchise and that my experience here doesn't dictate what everyone else will experience at any other "Brixx" but I can say if you come to the Brixx in Southern Pines, you will have a wonderful experience --
To start with, this is family owned- The owners Wayne and Iris or Iraelva (her full name as seen on my receipt) are some of the most amazing, genuine, and kind people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. It was a very familial experience over all - Even though Wayne and Iris owned the restaurant, Iris was also our server and Wayne made sure our cups were always refilled. Even though there were other servers around... Which my family and I appreciated very much
Wayne was very friendly and funny, gave us a discount simply because it was our first time in the area, and entertained my wife and kids with some magic tricks (dinner and a show) meanwhile Iris (his wife) was the most sweet, and caring server we've ever had (and that is saying a lot) and even taught my kids a little Spanish! To top it all off, their extremely talented daughter Rachel (who is a concert level singer, guitar player, and pianist) happened to be in town from college and was playing a show at the restaurant that night. What an experience!
The restaurant was very clean and spacious, very modern, big TV's everywhere, and even had an outdoor option. Wayne even dimmed the lights for us, to give a more romantic upscale feel, AND handed us a remote so we had our own personal TV at our leisure.
The rest of the staff were also very friendly, mostly younger people, very diverse from all different ethnic backgrounds, which was nice to see, especially in a smaller southern town.
The food is the only thing that might be similar at other "Brixx" restaurants, I imagine. The Pizza was hand made, (you could see the whole process if you wanted to, which can be very cool if you've never seen something like that before, especially for the kids) the young men who were making the pizza were very talented, they could do tricks with, and throw the dough, like you'd see in a movie
Over all the people here made the experience a 10/10 The food was also very good, but the people are the reason my family and I will be coming back. If you want some good service and quality interactions with good people, come to Brixx in Southern Pines.. and ask for Iris, you...
Read moreThe Brixx wood fire pizza in southern pines is the best one I’ve ever been to. Not only is it the best (healthiest) pizza place in all of Moore county, but the service is also phenomenal. Aside from pizza, there’s so many other options a lot of people don’t know about, it’s not just your run of the mill pizza joint… they have pastas, sandwiches, salads, salmon, shrimp, chicken wings, protein bowls… their draft beer section is also very impressive and I love the desert selection they have.
I can’t say enough good things about the owners Wayne and Iris. Iris personally works the bar and serves sometimes. I’ve also seen her in the kitchen on multiple occasions, she truly does it all.
Due to covid, the staff has taken a hit, as people would rather collect unemployment than work, but despite that, this restaurant is like the little engine that could. I’ve been in here on multiple occasions where the entire place was filled with customers, while only 3 staff were at hand, and they were somehow miraculously managing to serve everyone. I think this is a pretty common occurrence here, especially on weekends, so it’s important to note.
PRO TIP- if you do eat at this wonderful establishment, please speak up and use your words. They are very obviously understaffed because of the current times we’re in. If you come in, find a place and just sit down and then tell a waitress you just got in and want to order. Don’t just wait for someone to attend you as they are always extremely busy, either in the front or in the back doing prep… If you feel like something is taking too long, again use your words, check in your order, they key is to ask.
This is a family run business (yes Brixx is a franchise, but this one is owned by a family that is local) and I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences here, they work with you if there is a problem (food comes out late or they make a mistake) overall one of the best dinning experiences...
Read moreI'm shocked to have had such a terrible experience at this franchise, especially since it was my first time trying their food. Despite living in the area since 2013, I had never eaten here before due to personal preferences and the town's reputation. However, my husband and I decided to give it a try after enjoying wood oven pizza elsewhere. Unfortunately, our experience was a disaster. We received a call from the franchise claiming our card transaction didn't go through, which was puzzling since we would have known if the card was declined before leaving. The gentleman who called was rude, dismissive, and tried to rush me into providing another credit card number. After investigating, we discovered that our transaction had indeed gone through, and the issue was on their end. They had mistakenly confused our order with someone else's. The representative never apologized for the mistake, embarrassment, or disrespect. This experience reinforced why I had avoided this establishment in the first place. As someone from the North, I'm not familiar with colorism, but I recognize poor customer service when I see it. Needless to say, I won't be returning. They should be thrilled that I'm now aware of the franchise's true nature and the town's authentic character, even if it's not exactly what I had hoped for. My experience has given me a newfound understanding of the local culture, and I'm eager to share my insights...
