My husband and I ate at the new Southern Pines Longhorn this past Sunday for lunch. We were not greeted when we walked in, the hostess was talking to 2 other employees so we awkwardly stood there despite the fact we were the only people waiting to be seated. Our server was prompt to our table. We were given dinner menus (along with everyone else in the restaurant) I had to ask for a lunch menus. I was given one then had to wait until my server returned to ask for my husband to also be given a lunch menu. Two employees stood close to our table and we over heard the 2 female servers talk about "late night booty calls" totally inappropriate but did make me and my husband laugh, would not have been funny had our children been with us. I wanted something lite since it was lunch time so I order baked potato soup with no bacon (I do not eat pork). Our server told me the soup is pre-made and bacon is already in it. I asked her to check to make sure but she told me she was pretty sure that the bacon was cut very tiny and I probably wouldn't even taste it, it was insulting as I informed her I do not eat pork. I ended up ordering my go to meal if I don't know what else to order- a grilled chicken ceasar salad and my husband ordered chopped steak. Our server came back to our table 3 times to clarify my "grilled ceasar salad" order. I finally had to say "I am so confused as to why my order is so difficult." Our food was served in a timely manner and our server never let our glasses get empty. My salad had huge flakes of cold parmesan all over it, it would not melt due to the temperture so I had to pick it all off as I did not want a mouth full of cold parmesan. My husbands fries were luke warm. Half of my piece of chicken was so fatty I could not eat it-so gross! I barely ate 1/4 of my salad and my husband ate half of his plate. My husband said his food was "just ok". Our server came back to clear our table and leave the check. She did not even notice or perhaps care that she was removing an almost full salad and did not ask us how our food was. Normally I would complain but I was so over this lunch and just wanted to leave. Not once did I see a manager or did one come by our table to check on us which I found very strange seeing how new this restaurant is to the area. We walked past the hostess who did not speak to us or thank us for our visit. We went straight to Purple Penguin and both got a large serving of yogurt seeing how we were both still hungry. I hope this restaurant can work out the kinks and can improve in service and food because this small community is really in need of growth and variety. As for me and my husband we will not return, and if we do decide to give it another chance we will give it some time before returning to improve. Best food in this town remains my house prepared by my personal chef and husband;) Good...
Read moreHad two great experiences at this steakhouse while we were in town for a 3-day program. The first night was a busy Friday night and luckily we arrived just in time to grab a booth without a wait. It was about 6:30pm. Our server was fantastic and just added to our evening enjoyment. We both got steaks. I got the New York Strip (cooked medium) and my wife got the Porterhouse (cooked medium rare). We both got a loaded baked potato as our side. Steak entrees start with a cool, crisp garden salad which was good because that's how I like my garden salads, cool and crisp. But let's be real. We didn't come for the salad - we came for the steak! My strip was right on target. It was medium to medium rare throughout, tender, tasty, and terrific 😋. I hadn't had a strip in ages and this one hit the spot perfectly. My wife says her Porterhouse was delicious! Tender and juicy and a really good piece of meat. We both enjoyed our meals immensely that night and the next morning for breakfast we finished off what remained of our steaks with eggs. Yum! We came back Sunday night for our last dinner in Pinehurst. Two steaks in three days would have been too much for us so we opted for a slab of ribs and the Big Sky Burger. Oh my, the Big Sky Burger is now my favorite burger.😋😋 It is a really rich burger. The flavors blend together so well you don't want to put it down and we didn't put it down. We split the burger and the joke was on us cause we were too full for the ribs (and we didn't even eat our fries!) We had the ribs for dinner the next night at home. Compared to the Big Sky Burger, the New York Strip and the Porterhouse, the ribs didn't seem to be in the same class. I don't know if they just didn't travel well or if the steaks and burgers are more to our liking. Don't get me wrong, we ate them, but we'll probably get our ribs somewhere else. I'm still giving this Lone Star 5 Stars because the booths are comfy, all the food we ate in the restaurant was luscious, the wait staff was excellent, and the restrooms are really nice. This is the first time I've been to a Lone Star in 20 years. What was I...
Read moreI'm writing to formally express my extreme disappointment regarding a recent dining experience at your Southern Pines location on June 1, 2025, at approximately 1:15 PM. My order was the salmon, broccoli, and sweet potato.
Upon its initial arrival, the dish was entirely unsuitable. The salmon was noticeably undercooked, the broccoli was severely overcooked and mushy, and the sweet potato didn't appear fresh. I immediately brought these significant issues to the attention of your staff.
The meal was then taken back to be re-prepared. However, when the dish was returned for the second time, it was clear the issues hadn't been resolved, and in fact, some aspects had worsened. The salmon appeared to be the same piece, simply re-cooked, resulting in it being dried out and tough. The broccoli also seemed to be the original portion, still overcooked and unappetizing.
Following this second unsatisfactory attempt, a manager approached our table. To my surprise and dismay, the manager stated, "I thought you just wanted the salmon re-heated." I promptly responded by questioning, "What do you know, do you reheat salmon that comes out dried and overcooked?" This interaction left me feeling unheard and that my concerns about food quality weren't being taken seriously or understood by your management.
This experience, particularly the lack of proper resolution after a second attempt and the manager's response, falls far below the standards I'd expect from The Longhorn. I'm a customer who has generally held your establishment in high regard, and this specific incident, from the kitchen's preparation to the management's handling, was deeply disappointing.
I trust you'll investigate this matter thoroughly to prevent similar occurrences and ensure your staff and management are equipped to properly address food quality concerns. I'd appreciate a direct response and the opportunity to discuss this issue further.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this...
