I put this one star review in and the next day was contacted by the owner/s. They told me they felt bad about the situation and wanted to personally deliver the scones that I had ordered to rectify the oversight. I even told them that I lived in Fayetteville and they said it didn’t matter it’s what they wanted to do. I have to say that that says a lot about someone when they see that you’ve had a bad experience and they’re willing to go out of their way to make it right. At first when this happened I was willing to write the business off and not return, but seeing that they care that much, I will be returning.
The scones are the best I’ve ever had. Their customer service and organization not so much. I’ve put in a bulk order online two days in advance, get to the store to pick it up and they are looking at me like I don’t know what I’m talking about. Then they check their system and see it in there and then proceed to tell me that they don’t have the scones I ordered, because they didn’t put it together, so I ended up canceling my order and getting a refund. They told me it is best to call or come into the store to put in bulk orders. A few months later I do just that, I go into the store put in my bulk order and was told they could have it ready at 2pm. Go into the store and they don’t have my order. Same employee as last time told me oh well it’s just like last time we didn’t check the system. I told her I came in in person and out this order in at 7am and she then proceeded to tell me, well it must’ve been an oversight, so I had to get my money refunded to me yet again. Although their scones are the best I will not be returning because of...
Read morePinescone Café is such a cute little spot in Southern Pines, and I really enjoyed my visit! They have a nice variety of scones, both savory and sweet.
I tried the jalapeño cheddar scone with ham, eggs, and cheese, and it was absolutely delicious—fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with the salty kick. I’ll definitely be back for more of the savory options!
I also picked up a variety box of sweet scones, and I have mixed feelings. The good part is they’re not overly sweet, which I love. But for me, the flavor leaned a little too salty, almost like they used salted butter or a heavy pinch of salt in the dough. It created a bit of a clash with the sweetness, and my taste buds weren’t quite sure what to make of it. That said, taste is subjective—others may really enjoy that unique twist!
Overall, the café is charming, the savory scones are fantastic, and I’ll definitely be back to grab another one of those jalapeño...
Read moreWent on a Sunday morning. I said my pleases and thank yous several times to the girl taking my order but she seemed like she couldn’t be bothered to have any inkling of a warm personality. It actually seemed that way for most of the girls working there that morning and of course it’s an establishment where you tip ahead. I was mostly disappointed that my scone breakfast sandwich was microwaved. It had that radiated taste and also freezing cold on the bottom center. I wouldn’t have minded if it had taken longer to be toasted since I never microwave my food. Other than that, the coffee was really good. Would have liked a real mug since I was dining in, but I wasn’t offered one. However, I saw a cabinet full of them...
