Culinary Combo Bakery — Restaurant in Southfield

This quaint little tucked away gem is well worth the treasure hunt in finding its location in the very back of an apartment complex. It's a Mother and Daughter operation of the sweetest most sentimental kind when you hear their story. I discovered them on the local Fox2 news morning show doing a LIVE TV interview on Sweetest Day. I was so intrigued by what I saw and heard that I had to go check the place out and what better day to do then that very day! I called 1st to ask if they had key lime pie. She said she did not have any ready now but she could make me one. MAKE ME ONE?!?? Of course I said YES PLEASE!! She was so concerned it would not be ready in time for me because it would have to set for a few hours, but it was ready before I was! LOL! I came inside to pick it up and was immediately drawn to all the unique sweet treats in their display case that you can see as soon as you walk in the door. Naturally I had to buy some of those goodies as well! My toughest decision of the day (now that I am retired) was the many selections to choose from and I literally wanted one of each, but decided on 3 choice that were ALL very delicious. Oh! And the key lime pie.... STUNNING, HEAVY, and DEEEEEELICIOUS!!! Squeeze a little fresh lime over your piece and it takes it NEXT LEVEL!!! I guarantee I will be back and not just to order and run. They have a small area of tables and chairs with free wifi for you to relax and enjoy the combination of sweet smells from all of their freshly baked goods while you nibble on whatever it is you selected. You MUST visit Culinary Combo Bakery! I googled "bakeries near me" when we got a craving for something sweet at work yesterday. Yes, there's a Tim Horton and Dunkin Donut near us, but we wanted a "real" bakery. I'm SO glad we found this place. It's cute, clean, has charming decor and the nicest owners. Even better is that their baked goods are fresh and delicious! I may or may not have gone overboard because everything looked so good. ;) We tried 4-5 kinds of rugalach, caramel macchiato scones, oreo donuts and 4 different bars. Bonus was the espresso shortbread we ate in the car on the way back to work. LOL! This may have been our first visit, but certainly not our last. Culinary Combo Bakery is definitely my go to the next time I need a gift box or gift basket...

The most fun is to be with the recipients of a Culinary Combo basket by Jodie Polk. The ooohs and the aaashs are fantastic as everyone first marvels at the presentation, the variety and the abundance. And that would be enough but, once they all start digging in to figure out which delight to sample first or whether to split a dessert so they can have many tastes or to simply keep something to enjoy alone, just makes it all the better. The treats are fresh and flavorful. They are unique and colorful. They are a treat for the eye as well as the taste buds.
