I celebrated my birthday at the Southgate location. Although the food was very good, I will not be coming back to this location. We were seated at a table that seemed like it was set up in the middle of the restaurant and against a wall that blocked us from view of the staff. It seemed like forever until server came to welcome us, and we also waited an extremely long time after she introduced herself to be offered water and bread. When that finally came to us, it was within moments that our food was served, so it took longer to get water and bread than to get our meals! My silverware was filthy, and the bread plates were not clean either. We asked for new silverware and bread plates, but we were now a bit uncomfortable, questioning the cleanliness of our other plates and glasses, but we didn't complain, things happen. However, once I removed the lobster shell, there was a long dark hair under the shell drenched in the melted butter. A real turnoff. I should have complained, but I didn't want to cause a scene, so I moved along with my meal after removing the hair. It's a shame, because the food was really very good. Our waitress, although very friendly when taking our orders, paid no attention to us during our time, not even to glance at us as she was moving through the room. There were things we wanted to ask for but couldn't because none of the staff noticed us or stopped by to check on us. None of us will be returning to this location. The franchise owner should be made aware because if business is slow there, it is not due to the food, but most likely due to the poor dining experience. This was a Tuesday night at dinner hour, by the way, and many tables were empty, so it can't be blamed on how busy...
Read moreJust got back from Outback in Southgate. Won’t be going back. When we arrived the mat in front of the door was covered in ice. I told them at the desk and ask them to salted it. The mat was the same when we left. Salad had to be returned due to rotted lettuce. Husband‘s steak was half fat. Manager was yelling at the kitchen staff about bread not being in the oven and them being open for two more hours. Swearing was going on in the kitchen. We had a great waiter and we told him how bad the steak was. We did not ask for the manager but she came out. She was rude and told us that ribeye steaks are always very fatty. And she was sorry about the salad. She did nothing about it.
Update: About a month after this posting, I called the manager who had requested that I contact them. She was very nice apologized and invited us back to try them out again. She offered us $50 off of our bill. But never asked my name. When I asked her if she would like a name she said no just come in and tell them the manager said you have $50 off your bill due to a bad experience there. I thought this was highly unusual. Anyway, my husband had several health difficulties over the past several months, so we finally went this evening. We told the waitress, a manager came out and she said this isn’t the way they do things. That if this happened, it should have been recorded with our name. The manager did offer to have us wait while she tried to contact the other manager and see if she remembered the incident. Although tonight’s manager was very nice and respectful, it was still embarrassing. Now I wonder if that might not have been the intention of the first manager, who invited us back without...
Read moreToday's order was shrimp from the barbie with a side ceasar and additional steakhouse mac and cheese. Starting with the shrimp, cooked absolutely perfect. Its so easy to overcooked shrimp but this was spot on. Not only was the shrimp cooked to perfection but the seasonings were bold and flavorful. They definitely did not skimp out. Next we have the ceasar salad. I altered mine to be without croutons and thats exactly what I got. The dressing tasted great and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. They also used what I think is the perfect amount of parm, and im a person who loves a bit more parm with my food than tends to come on it at many of these other restaurants. Lastly, I decided to try the steakhouse mac and cheese. I think we all know that often times mac and cheese ends up being some flavorless gel like glob of overcooked pasta. Not here! The pasta was cooked just right, the cheese was a great blend with strong flavor as well as extra seasonings being added to give it a very small but noticeable kick. My order came with a single load of pumpernickle bread and whipped butter. That was a nice little addition that's great to see since most restaurants have phased out the whole free bread and butter with your entree thing. Definitely adds to the value seeing as how I got all this amazing tasty food for just 22$! One more point I would like to add is that i doordashed my order and even though I ordered during peak lunch hours, my food was prepared quickly. So not only did they make perfectly cook and well seasoned food, but they did it rather quickly. I definitely recommend this location if you've had a bad experience with outback...
