WOW! Southgate Red Robin is amazing! Have had other negative experiences, but some favorable ones in the past. Decided to give them another shot. Tried to place a take out order for like 30 minutes today . One of the incredibly intelligent and highly motivated hostesses who stand at the little kiosk up front doing absolutely nothing kept transferring me to the bar to place my order. The phone rang and rang and rang, but none of their phenomenally talented employees could figure out how to answer it. Called the hostess back and she said she would find someone to take my order. Again the phone just rang and rang and rang. This is pretty amazing since the hostess stand and the bar are like 6-8 feet apart. So not only was there absolutely no one working in the bar but the hostess was too blind and deaf to figure out that no one was answering the phone. So, I hang up and call again. Same exemplary employee answers the phone again. I ask to speak to a manager and she has the nerve to ask why. I say because I have been trying to place a take out order for 30 minutes. She says she’ll go find a manager. At least 10 minutes goes by and this middle aged wimp with the whiniest voice you’ve ever heard gets on the phone. I ask if he is the manager. He tells me that he is “one” of the managers on duty. Are you kidding me. That place isn’t that big. Couldn’t one of the supervisors hear the phone ringing off the hook? I calmly voice my complaint to him. He apologizes and attempts to take my order, but cannot find a pen. No one else seems to have one either. I guess that’s why they don’t answer the phone. Any way I compliment his highly motivated staff and his competent supervisory skills and tell him Red Robin is earning a terrible reputation downriver. They will close down. I will celebrate. You cannot run a successful business with lazy, dumb, thoughtless employees and totally incompetent supervisors. Called Secret Recipe. The person who answered the phone took our order immediately. Polite, friendly, prompt, appreciative of our business. Imagine that? The food was far superior than anything we’ve ever had...
Read moreMy sister and I stopped for a quick meal at Red Robin gourmet burgers last week. I ordered a single cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and light mayo with onion rings on the side rather than steak fries. I ordered a lemonade and the onion soup. The onion soup was not bad. What baffled me about the lemonade is that it tasted very watery. I only drank about 1/2 of the glass that was brought to me. I decided to concentrate on the ice water with lemon that our lovely server brought to me because the lemon flavor was more pronounced. What really got me though is the company is called “gourmet burgers.” One would think if you are making a gourmet burger, you would be using some high-quality meat so it would taste a cut above. After my first bite, I had to lift the top bun and put salt on it to get a little flavor. it improved some, but I never finished the burger because I’m not going waste the calories on eating something that isn’t that good. The only other comment I would make which was baffling was I asked for pickle slices on the side and I got them. When I tasted the first one, it tasted like a faint taste of dill pickle , kind of like my lemonade had a faint taste of lemon. Regarding the lemonade, We mentioned it to our server who went to the manager and took off the $3.79 charge for the lemonade which we appreciated. I asked her why it was so expensive and she said because it’s “bottomless.” Well if the lemonade isn’t very good tasting, they can get away with serving one glass per person I guess. At any rate, I’m not inclined to visit another red Robin gourmet burgers again in Michigan or down in the Columbus Ohio area where I live. There are way better restaurants that serve better tasting burgers. I will say the service at this restaurant that was very nice , and the Company trained...
Read morePoorest dining experience I can remember, anywhere!!. I haven’t been to a Red Robin since they arrived in Michigan in the 90’s. Decided to stop at Southgate, Michigan location on Saturday, September 28th Started with just basic water. Both my wife and I noticed an extremely unpleasant taste and odor. I asked server if anyone else had complained about water? Of course she said , no. It was bad…no matter what anyone would say. Our granddaughter ordered Mac n Cheese from children’s menu. She scarfed it down quickly when it finally arrived and we requested a second helping. That alone took between 20-25 minutes to receive and it was cold and “watery” is my best description! Unacceptable!! My burger was the worst I can recently remember having from anywhere! Waitress never even stopped at table and asked if we wanted any more “bottomless” fries or chips and we had to request same. She said it would be another 20-25 minutes just for fries!!! Unacceptable!! Told her to bring bill. She said it was busy and several “parties” where dining. I bet there was 40 patrons total inside at the time. Too many excuses!! A couple adjacent to us walked out after placing order with the same waitress we had. She told them, several minutes later, that (whatever they ordered was not available). After I voiced my discuss with our waitress she asked if we wished to speak to manage…of course we would very much like that! All this “Manager” could say was, “Yeah” and “Im sorry”. I see they must have no Management Communication Training at this place and it surly shows! Never again going to return to a Red Robin nor...
