We arrrived without a reservation on a Friday night. There was an obvious wait, but since we were only two, we probably didn't even actually wait 5 minutes for a table. Were were sat in a banquet in the bar area. Overall this place is very well built and decorated. It has an elegant feel that is not pretentious and feels very open and comfortable. I did note the way they constructed the ceiling, which sounds weird but here's why: This buildling is part of a strip building and so has a very high roof. Rather than dropping in a ceiling, they left it open all the way up. All support structures, lighting fixtures, sound system, etc. are painted black but the cool part is that they installed sound absorbing insulation on the roof and it makes a world of difference in the overall sound level (din) in the restaurant. Even though it is completely open concept and it was packed that night, it was still very pleasant and comfortably quiet for conversation.
We were greeted promptly and we asked for a queso. Chips, salsa, and the queso came quickly and all were very good. I particularly like the tortilla chips. The thickness was just right: thick enough not to break in salsa or queso, yet not too thick to be overwhelming.
I did ask for a soda and it was served in a can with a glass of ice. OK, that is so odd for a place this nice that I can only assume their fountain was broken. It made no difference to me and I didn't even ask.
We had the Pollo con Hongos and a combo dish. Everything went very smoothly, the food came out quickly, and everyhting was very well done, nicely presented, and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the mushroom chicken dish. The portion was large and I had plenty left over for a next-day lunch.
Overall this experience was wonderful and I am looking forward to visiting again. Great date night spot. Lively enough to be really fun, but to loud to have an...
Read moreVery disappointing visit this evening. Not sure we will be returning! I would like to point out that the receptionist was the only one who actually seemed to care about our visit and make sure we were getting taken care of. She gave us a great greeting as we walked in at 9:30pm and took us to our table where we received very cold and stale chips and 5 minutes went by with no server greeting us so the receptionist checked on us and got our drinks and then a server came by speaking to us in Spanish just assuming we spoke Spanish and since my husband does he is the only one who responded to her. He ordered a cup of queso which didn’t come for almost 10 minutes and was cold! And thick! And during this time as well the server had not returned to take our order. I wish we would of got up and left but my husband was really wanting the entree he came there for. We were both servers/ bartenders years ago and understand they want to get home, so if they would of greeted us right away and took our order quickly and not ignored us then our food would of been brought out quickly and we could of ate and been gone before 10pm. Even with the long waits and disappointing service we still finished our dinner at 10:06pm. My fajitas nachos were very burnt and cold, my husband plate was cold as well and he barely ate it. We were looking forward to Anamias and it ended up being extremely disappointing. The receptionist once again checked on us and we explained to her we were upset and she apologized and tried to accommodate us for the burnt food and we really appreciated that. We are always very generous tippers and since being servers and bartenders in our past know you get tipped on the great service you give but today no tip should of been given but we just gave...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Anamia's. The food was exceptionally good. We had the queso blanco, burritos, tacos and the shrimp brochette. Everything was very tasty. I wish I could give them five stars, but...
We arrived about 12:30 on a Friday. The tables were socially distanced and the restaurant was not overly busy. We took it as a good sign that there appeared to be numerous employees in the front of the house. Then we waited over five minutes for our server. Then we waited another ten minutes for her to bring us two sweet teas. Ok...
She brought out our queso appetizer, not checking how our chips were holding up. A bit later it took us five minutes to flag down someone to get us more chips. Our server brought out our entrees then refilled our tea, and disappeared. We never saw her again until she brought the bill. We were not offered dessert, boxes for our leftovers nor to go cups. What was just as bad was the general inattentivness of the entire staff. Not even a thank you or goodbye from the two hostesses when we left.
I called and spoke to the manager. While she seemed concerned, it was obvious she was trying to quickly get off the phone. Sadly, not sure if we will be...
