Had a pick-up order today at lunch. When I got to the bar for order no one was around and I waited for a little over 5 minutes until I was able to make eye contact with the manager. He came over and asked if I had been helped and I told him no, gave him my name and he went to the kitchen to retrieve it. Then he rang me up, I gave him my card, I gave the bartender (I assume) a $7 tip on $32 for take out and was about to leave when I noticed that the side of sliced jalapenos was not in the bag. He went to the register rang up an order and gave me the bill for .81 and went to the kitchen. The bartender did show up and apologized for the kitchen not having the japs included, but of course they were not on the original check either. I put down a dollar with the check, the manager came back with the jalapeno slices said thanks and went off to do something else. I had no intention of waiting for change but it would have been nice for him to have acknowledged it. OK, that's the story, here's the problem. As a patron I do get tired of being nickled and dimed by little things like sliced jalapenos but it happens at a lot of places these days so I accept it. But having worked in, managed, and owned a restaurant I am put off by being charged by the manager after his staff makes a mistake and holds me up for 81 cents. Really? it was not even the equivalent of a full pepper, that's a rounding error on COG's. Had it been the bartender I wouldn't have been happy but would not have been upset with the restaurant. But a manager should have apologized, given me the peppers and thanked me for my business. Instead he just lost any future business over an 81 cent charge. We chose Christina's over Anemia's a block down the street because we thought Anemia's would be busier. We were correct on that point, and maybe the management i,s the reason that they had 3 tables occupied at noon. In the future we will see if the customer service remains better at other restaurants as well. FYI; food was fine and as expected so I can't give them a zero but customer service is my big thing, fair or not; give it or...
Read moreMy friend and I visit this restaurant frequently, until now, no real complaints. Food is acceptable, nothing great about it, definitely not a place I would rave about but no real complaints. That is until our last visit. No one greeted us when we came in so stood at front for several minutes. We were seated and told someone would be with us shortly, 10 minutes later a server shows up, takes our water drink order and disappears. There was all of three tables in the entire restaurant filled so it wasn't busy at all. Our server returns with our water, we both order, tableside guacamole, friend asks for beef fajitas and flour tortillas. I would like to have a cheese enchilada and taco, unfortunately I don't see an option for this but do see a chicken enchilda meal that has the taco, so I ask if I can substitute the chicken for a cheese? I am told, sure, then I ask for no lettuce on plate (iceberg lettuce makes me ill) and am met with a huge sigh and rolling eyes! What??!! Cheese instead of chicken, cheaper for the restaurant as I didn't ask that the price be dropped! I said are you having a bad day? The answer was "you are ordering a lot of substitutions and we are short staffed." Ok, a lot of substitutions change chicken to cheese leave off lettuce. Hmmm, I am pretty pissed at this point so I say "if it's a problem we can go elsewhere." No, that won't be necessary. Ok, great, you will really love this since we are making so many substitutions I don't want onions either! He came back to make guacamole and proceeded to ask me in a very condescending voice how much of every item I wanted in it, which would have been great if he didn't include sweetie, sweetheart, is that ok sweetie. Everytime he came to our table I was met with that condescending tone. Oh, and btw, my plate must have really been difficult, it came out with lettuce and had...
Read moreFor years we went to the Christina‘s in Southlake. We always really liked it. Have tried the Christina‘s in this north Fort Worth location a couple times now, and again last night, and can’t say I was impressed. Although our waitress was so sweet, and I had a wonderful visit with a friend I had not seen in some time, the food was basically a disappointment. The portions are definitely pretty small compared to what I remember in Southlake and just not a lot of taste in anything we had. Nothing was really bad. But nothing was really good, if you know what I mean. Their salsa is actually pretty tasteless and unfortunately the queso had the same issue. It just doesn’t seem like they are using very much spice on anything and actually the fact that the queso never thickens when it gets cold let’s me know there is actually no real cheese in it. Pretty sure it was Rico’s brand cheese sauce or similar, which in that case is just marked up ridiculously. I really hate to leave negative reviews. Especially when I really enjoyed the night, and atmosphere of the establishment. Unfortunately a restaurants biggest appeal for me is the food quality and flavor, and a sweet waitress and nice atmosphere can’t mask the fact that the food is...
