My family and I have been here dozens and dozens of times since this Del Frisco Grill has been open and it has gotten progressively worse over the years, but last nights experience was one for the ages. Quite possibly the worst experience my wife and I have had at a “nice” restaurant in years.
It was so bad that a number of the tables around us started talking amongst ourselves about the horrible experience.
We made reservations like we typically do to avoid the crowds, and we were set right away, which is great. The problem was that we were set on the upstairs balcony and it was 35° out. Of course they had the plastic walls up and the heaters out, but it was absolutely freezing up there. I thought by making reservations we could avoid sitting outside when it’s colder than a polar bears toenail, but nonetheless we rolled with it.
I’m not gonna get into every single detail of the awful experience, but here are some of the highlights.
It wasn’t empty, but it wasn’t crazy busy, and we literally waited 41 minutes to get water… and that’s after asking for water four times. We also asked for lemons for the water and it came well after the water was out.
Our table was wobbly to the extent that my wife and I put a napkin underneath one of the legs to keep it from knocking the 41 minute water off the table.
Ordered hot tea, because we were in the attic tundra, and the water came out lukewarm, at best.
Order a baked potato as a side and right before my food came out they let me know that they had no more potatoes. When our food came out the table next to us was brought two baked potatoes, and they sent one back because they only ordered one.
I had the mahi-mahi, my wife had the filet and they both were cold, really cold. I’m fairly certain that my couscous wasn’t cooked.
They brought out our food with no silverware and no napkins. Mind you that we have been sitting for an hour before we received our food. Literally had to ask for silverware and napkins.
We waited 20 minutes to see our server so we could ask for the check, and keep in mind it was freezing outside, so we just wanted to get back into a warm car.
Several tables asked to speak to the manager because of similar experiences… we didn’t just because we wanted to get out of there.
Again, we’ve been coming here for years, but last night was, more than likely,...
Read moreShabby , that’s the first impression I got from the cluttered and cramped entrance at the host station . Dust pan , rags and other items suited for a dust closet greeted us ,I say greeted us as there was no one there at the host station for a while . Two other gentleman were waiting to be seated , one also to retrieve a to go order . When the hostess did arrive I let her know of our reservation . We were then taken up a huge flight of stairs to the second floor . I realized half way up that yes there is indeed an elevator but we were not offered that . I don’t own a stair master and I don’t want one . Dinner was lack luster . We did not order wine or cocktails just ice tea . We asked for waters also . Both took a long time to arrive and when they did there was little difference between the two as the tea was weak and light . The appetizers were tasty but presentation was forgotten by the chef and corporate executives . Our steaks arrived presented by two people that never asked us to check our steaks temperature. They were prepared to correct temperatures but flavorless completely bland . The accompanying side dish of mash potatoes was a large clump of cold tasteless starch . I’m guessing cream and butter are no longer in the Del Frisco refrigerator or salt or pepper . The only thing is they were honest about is that the potatoes were indeed mashed . I seasoned my steak on my own to make it palatable . A complimentary desert was afforded my guest for his birthday , coconut cream pie and it was excellent . I ordered the flourless chocolate cake . A harded triangle of solid confectionery well suited to a nuclear fall out shelter as I’m sure it would never spoil but it did spoil the end of my meal after one bite and those sad little raspberries three in a row on the plate dry with no hope of adding any flavor to this slab of concrete . Our waiter was friendly but I’m not there to make friends unless I elect too do so . I wanted good service . The service was minimal. The atmosphere is atrocious as well . We will return to Del Friscos in Fort Worth or Dallas but the grille in our neighborhood is not on my “ we have to go back “ list . I never complained to the waiter as this was to have been a happy occasion for my guests birthday so I elected to complain here . Click dial tone end of conversation...
Read moreThe staff are like rude robots with programmed responses. We made reservations and were treated like walk INS. It was like they have a system. Go ahead and seat them after they ask about the table 3 times. The first robotic response they are programmed to give you is they are bussing your table right now. I was fed this line by 2 different hostesses 20 min apart. The third time I be went up there they were magically ready to set us. When we went up stairs I was ready to see this packed restaurant. There was about 4 empty tables and the vibe was slow. Then came out waiter if we had one, I'm not even sure. The first guy ( big tall blonde guy) when he eventually showed up found out what we wanted for dinner then he took off. We weren't done ordering. We wanted appetizers and another drink. I don't think we ever saw that guy again, he never came back, another guy who I think might have been our new water, not sure nobody ever communicated with us about anything. Well the new guy brought it out food the soup and salad was good. The Thanksgiving entree was good minus the green beans that were not edible. The apple crisp was also not edible. The apples were sliced really thin. The way you would cut them if you were say decorating a cake. And they were uncooked. Imagine these thin flimsy uncooked apples in your mouth. It was a textural nightmare. Thank God for the ice cream that I wasn't supposed to have due to being lactose intolerant. I ate it anyways because I love ice cream. (Made me sick) all alone disappointment. The only person that even smiled at us was the female bartender downstairs when she was what it looked like make making our drinks from their menu for the first time because her first try was unsuccessful. When I ordered another one upstairs it was completely different. I heard this place was nice. The only thing nice was the building and the location because it wasn't the food...
