I visited this evening for a friendâs birthday (which was not acknowledged whatsoever) and left pretty disappointed. One of the only good things about our experience was that we were seated quickly without a wait. The âambianceâ that many rave about was lacking tonight- we were sat upstairs by a few larger parties and a small party, all of whom had alcohol and were relatively loud. I was sitting about 2.5 feet away from my friend and we couldnât hear each other when speaking at a normal voice level. The service was mediocre at best and rather frustrating. Our experience was initially pretty rushed- after asking for a few more minutes we were ignored for a little over 10 minutes. We had only a hand full of interactions with our waitress. The interactions we had with our waitress were extremely short in comparison to the ones I observed with other tables. When she had finally come to get our orders, we needed water refills, but our empty cups were ignored until about 7 or so minutes afterwards when a different waiter stepped in and got us water. Trying to get a refill at all tonight was unnecessarily difficult, unless of course you were ordering alcoholic beverages (which we did not get, but they were regularly bringing out for surrounding tables). Our table was not bussed until the end of our meal, which caused the waitress to shove dishes across the table when she brought out our food. The food was of poor quality. The chips were cold and stale. The salsa tasted like canned tomatoes that were purĂ©ed with the preservation liquid and an abundance of salt. I ordered the El Rayâs and it was pretty bad. It was warm but not hot. The enchilada was drenched in an EXTREMELY overly salted sauce, which made almost everything on the plate taste ONLY of salt. The cheese inside of the enchilada wasnât entirely melted. The beans and rice were average. The taco was tasted bad and was not of typical Mexican restraint quality. The taco shell can be compared to that of cardboard. The meat was salty and greasy- grease was dripping out onto my arm and onto the table while I tried to eat the taco. One could have probably gotten a better taco for a fraction of the cost at a fast food establishment. The tamale was clumpy and again, had no flavor other than salt. Additionally, the tamale was lacking in filling. The meal was not worth finishing and I did not want to take home leftovers because of how bad it was. In conclusion, I wouldnât not recommend dining here unless you plan on ordering alcohol and appetizers, it is not an experience worthy of oneâs time or money. I would suggest taking your business a few minutes away to Chuyâs where the service and food are of a much better quality for pretty similar prices. I was upset and disappointed by my experience tonight, I donât plan on returning. The only thing I was left with after dining here tonight was frustration and...
Read moreWeâve been to a Mi Cocina at least a hundred times over the years. This past visit was, by far, the worst experience we ever had. The waiter was downright rude and extremely bothered by having to serve anyone.
Ordered queso and when it was brought, the small bowl of chips for our party of 5 was already empty. We asked for more and he said he would bring them. Ten minutes later of trying to flag any waiter, the hostess notices us and comes over. She goes into the kitchen and comes right back out with two bowls of chips. We finally get to enjoy our cold queso.
The waiter then messed our order up. We ordered the shrimp appetizer but he brought out the entree. And he completely missed one personâs order. When we brought it to his attention, he actually argued with us that he brought everything everyone ordered.
We all sat with empty drinks for about 75% of the meal. The only time he actually brought refills without being asked was when everyone was already finished.
Wasnât just us. The table next to us with the same waiter had similar problems. The waiter kept bringing them the check and they werenât even done ordering food.
And this wasnât a busy or low staff problem. We counted 9 tables occupied, with upstairs closed, and 7 waiters. It was 2:30pm on a Sunday.
Also, at every Mi Cocina visit before, the manager on duty would come after food was delivered to check on customers. This never happened, so we didnât have the opportunity to rectify the problems. We did see the manager, but he was far too interested in chatting with the hostess than caring that the wait staff was awful.
We will definitely not be returning to...
Read moreWe were excited to be able to try this place based off of hearing pretty good things about it despite some negative reviews we read. We got seated pretty quickly for a Saturday but our experience fell very flat. We ordered Guac (which is the only reason it gets the second star - it's worth ordering if you do risk this place), the nacho appetizer, the 50/50 nachos with corn tortillas (both of which my husband pointed to on the menu while ordering to show her) and a strawberry margarita. The waitress asked if we wanted the nachos with the meal and we said yes. The guac came and was really good, the margarita came and wasn't what we ordered (not strawberry) but we drank it, then she brought nachos and corn tortillas... The nachos were 50/50 and we instantly knew something was wrong. Service was slow and she didn't check our table more than twice so we decided to just eat them and hopefully the fajitas would come. When she came back for another table we asked about the fajitas and she seemed confused and said she thought we wanted fajita nachos. She said she'd put the order in but by that time we had waited a long time and we're just ready to go as it would probably have taken another 20-25 mins to get it. Why did you ask if we wanted the nachos with the MEAL? Our waters stayed empty the whole time except for when she brought our bill, she finally refilled it,.. by then what was the point? It was super disappointing as we were both hungry and excited for some good food, but we sadly left still hungry nad ate elsewhere. We won't be back and can't say we...
