Today I went here for a birthday celebration for my aunt at 2:00 pm. We had a party of 12 people. It took them almost 40 mins to just get drinks. They only had one server for a big party. Other servers was sitting down playing with their phones. They had another server on the staircase looking in his phone. I had to go to the manager to ask for another server to help with the table. We were there for another 40 mins before we got our food. I was disappointed with my food. My steak fajita were well done and not medium. Didn't have enough meat after taking away the onion, peppers and potatoes. The meat was chewy. The beans were dry, u can tell they had been sitting. I will give a thumbs up to our waiter Victor because he tried to keep us happy. Some of my families meals were good. It was a disappointing meal for the money I paid. I enjoyed the drink and that was about it. The birthday celebration was just okay. The food didn't enhance the celebration.

HOLY GUACAMOLE: We loved our drinks and dinner at Mi Cocina. Each thing we ordered was a culinary delight. Juan took care of our group of 8 in the bar area and he was on top of things. Nothing is too spicy like some Tex Mex spots that hide their inability to create good food by making everything so spicy that one isn’t sure if it’s good or not. We didn’t mention it to Juan if service got slow at points but he would make up for it by bringing free drinks and being so fun to be around. They aren’t losing a star on service because Juan made up for it without mention and it was so very obvious that any delay is the result of the labor shortage and not ability. Prices are great and so is the location. Why ever leave Southlake!? Get the Guac!

I actually liked the Plano restaurant a little better but we had a great spot upstairs that overlooked the lower level, but the entire restaurant was really packed and so loud, they also didn't take reservations. It was close to the tesla chargers so it was convenient to charge the car while we waited. I had a strawberry mojito that was fresh and tasty! Their salsa and chips are pretty typical of a tex mex restaurant and they did have a spicy salsa that you can ask for. I ordered the chicken cocina changa, i believe it's supposed to be a chimichanga. The food is good, I do prefer the Plano location of the chain but the quality is consistent.

I visited this evening for a friend’s birthday (which was not acknowledged whatsoever) and left pretty disappointed. One of the only good things about our experience was that we were seated quickly without a wait. The “ambiance” that many rave about was lacking tonight- we were sat upstairs by a few larger parties and a small party, all of whom had alcohol and were relatively loud. I was sitting about 2.5 feet away from my friend and we couldn’t hear each other when speaking at a normal voice level. The service was mediocre at best and rather frustrating. Our experience was initially pretty rushed- after asking for a few more minutes we were ignored for a little over 10 minutes. We had only a hand full of interactions with our waitress. The interactions we had with our waitress were extremely short in comparison to the ones I observed with other tables. When she had finally come to get our orders, we needed water refills, but our empty cups were ignored until about 7 or so minutes afterwards when a different waiter stepped in and got us water. Trying to get a refill at all tonight was unnecessarily difficult, unless of course you were ordering alcoholic beverages (which we did not get, but they were regularly bringing out for surrounding tables). Our table was not bussed until the end of our meal, which caused the waitress to shove dishes across the table when she brought out our food. The food was of poor quality. The chips were cold and stale. The salsa tasted like canned tomatoes that were purĂ©ed with the preservation liquid and an abundance of salt. I ordered the El Ray’s and it was pretty bad. It was warm but not hot. The enchilada was drenched in an EXTREMELY overly salted sauce, which made almost everything on the plate taste ONLY of salt. The cheese inside of the enchilada wasn’t entirely melted. The beans and rice were average. The taco was tasted bad and was not of typical Mexican restraint quality. The taco shell can be compared to that of cardboard. The meat was salty and greasy- grease was dripping out onto my arm and onto the table while I tried to eat the taco. One could have probably gotten a better taco for a fraction of the cost at a fast food establishment. The tamale was clumpy and again, had no flavor other than salt. Additionally, the tamale was lacking in filling. The meal was not worth finishing and I did not want to take home leftovers because of how bad it was. In conclusion, I wouldn’t not recommend dining here unless you plan on ordering alcohol and appetizers, it is not an experience worthy of one’s time or money. I would suggest taking your business a few minutes away to Chuy’s where the service and food are of a much better quality for pretty similar prices. I was upset and disappointed by my experience tonight, I don’t plan on returning. The only thing I was left with after dining here tonight was frustration and...

We’ve been to a Mi Cocina at least a hundred times over the years. This past visit was, by far, the worst experience we ever had. The waiter was downright rude and extremely bothered by having to serve anyone.

Ordered queso and when it was brought, the small bowl of chips for our party of 5 was already empty. We asked for more and he said he would bring them. Ten minutes later of trying to flag any waiter, the hostess notices us and comes over. She goes into the kitchen and comes right back out with two bowls of chips. We finally get to enjoy our cold queso.

The waiter then messed our order up. We ordered the shrimp appetizer but he brought out the entree. And he completely missed one person’s order. When we brought it to his attention, he actually argued with us that he brought everything everyone ordered.

We all sat with empty drinks for about 75% of the meal. The only time he actually brought refills without being asked was when everyone was already finished.

Wasn’t just us. The table next to us with the same waiter had similar problems. The waiter kept bringing them the check and they weren’t even done ordering food.

And this wasn’t a busy or low staff problem. We counted 9 tables occupied, with upstairs closed, and 7 waiters. It was 2:30pm on a Sunday.

Also, at every Mi Cocina visit before, the manager on duty would come after food was delivered to check on customers. This never happened, so we didn’t have the opportunity to rectify the problems. We did see the manager, but he was far too interested in chatting with the hostess than caring that the wait staff was awful.

We will definitely not be returning to...

We were excited to be able to try this place based off of hearing pretty good things about it despite some negative reviews we read. We got seated pretty quickly for a Saturday but our experience fell very flat. We ordered Guac (which is the only reason it gets the second star - it's worth ordering if you do risk this place), the nacho appetizer, the 50/50 nachos with corn tortillas (both of which my husband pointed to on the menu while ordering to show her) and a strawberry margarita. The waitress asked if we wanted the nachos with the meal and we said yes. The guac came and was really good, the margarita came and wasn't what we ordered (not strawberry) but we drank it, then she brought nachos and corn tortillas... The nachos were 50/50 and we instantly knew something was wrong. Service was slow and she didn't check our table more than twice so we decided to just eat them and hopefully the fajitas would come. When she came back for another table we asked about the fajitas and she seemed confused and said she thought we wanted fajita nachos. She said she'd put the order in but by that time we had waited a long time and we're just ready to go as it would probably have taken another 20-25 mins to get it. Why did you ask if we wanted the nachos with the MEAL? Our waters stayed empty the whole time except for when she brought our bill, she finally refilled it,.. by then what was the point? It was super disappointing as we were both hungry and excited for some good food, but we sadly left still hungry nad ate elsewhere. We won't be back and can't say we...
