I really wish I had read some of the one star reviews before I went in. I made an appointment with Rowan to re-pierce a previous piercing hole that I had, which never fully closed and was giving me trouble.
I asked an associate over text when my appointment is confirmed, if this was something they could address. She said she thought so, but I would need to be evaluated when I came in. I went to my appointment, the nurse checked me, said I had minimal scar tissue, and that the hole could be re-pierced without trouble. When she pushed the needle through, she remarked "you were right, it did only feel half pierced."
My husband was immediately skeptical. He said, if there was scar tissue like they said, I am surprised it was that easy to pierce through. A few days went by, and he asked to look more closely at the piercing. He then said, "I knew it. They didn't re-pierce your old hole, they gave you a whole new piercing."
He took pictures so I could see. Because I chose the disc piercing stud, it covered the previous hole, so I couldn't see the nurse had messed it up.
I called the store, and spoke to the manager. She asked me to send in pictures, and I did. She told me to come back and it would be fixed. She was kind and apologetic.
It took me an hour with traffic to get back to the store. When I got there, they kept saying, "I'm trying to figure out how this could've happened. Maybe she misunderstood." No. It was absolutely not a misunderstanding. We talked about it extensively, and if after all that, why did she evaluate my scar tissue beforehand and tell me afterwards, "you were right, it was still half open?" None of it added up.
The nurse who re-pierced me seemed a lot more capable. She told me, "if you're having trouble with this hole, this may not fix the problem." At that point I started crying. I told her, "Why have I talked to two associates, and this is the first time I am hearing this?" She said, "That's why you should come in..." I was flabbergasted at that point. I DID COME IN. I WAS EVAULATED BEFORE THE FIRST PIERCING.
What kind of nonsensical gaslighting operation is happening here? I feel like these women are listening to absolutely nothing I have been saying.
After all this, she was like, "Do you still want to proceed with the piercing?" I mean... I'm kind of halfway up Crap Creek already. I've paid $155, and have spent an hour in the car to get a second hole put into my body that I didn't ask for, or necessarily want.
I told her just to do it, if my ear gets messed up, it gets messed up. It is already, and if I end up needing to see a doctor about it, then I will. I just wanted it done so I could leave and never come back.
So that's what I did. I left, and I am never going back, and I suggest nobody else...
Read moreThis place is a butcher shop, not better than Claire's. Don't be fooled by the slick marketing.
Had both daughters ears pierced at the Southlake location during spring break. Used aftercare spray as directed and didn't attempt a change until the recommended time. When I went to change daughter one' earrings, I couldn't get the new pair in and she screamed in pain. The Lexington location, closest to where we live, wasn't opened yet, so her holes closed up.
2nd daughter left hers alone until 2 full months after the piercing (they say first change can happen as early as 3 weeks). We made an appointment at the Lexington location for a change. Same situation: we couldn't get the ball back off the earring and then she was screaming in pain, worse than when she was pierced. It took 3 different workers to try to get the change earring in and at one point they looked at me and asked if I wanted to try!
Two weeks later, I attempt to put a different earring in. Once again, I can't get the post in and she's SCREAMING in pain.
Obviously what we have figured out is these "not Claire's style guns" SUCK, are guns and not devices, and the holes were not healed enough for a change. My daughters are traumatized from the pain, we are out $400 between the piercings and the earrings they push, and now we have exactly one of four ears with an earring and terrified to change it out.
Local piercing place has told us today that these devices Rowan says are not guns are the same things as guns, their aftercare directions are totally wrong (rowan tells you to spin, you should never spin), and Rowan saying they can be changed in 3 weeks is wayyyyy too soon. Now we have to wait until fall to go to a real piercing shop to try again, if my kids even want to now.
Don't be fooled by the bougie, hip storefront and con that nurses do this, so it must be safe. This company doesn't know what it is doing. Nurses are not trained extensively in piercing. It's not a coincidence that this has happened to both daughters. Thanks a ton for taking what was supposed to be a special milestone and traumatizing...
Read moreSadly I do not recommend this location. The piercer was an absolutely lovely woman and great at her job but unfortunately the manager does not need to be a manager here. She is not a piercer herself and she did not advise me well on my earrings. I came in with an already existing piercing and I expressed concern with the 14k earrings she recommended being too short for my ears but she said they would be fine (because she cares about making a high dollar sale more than she cares about what is the best option for a customer’s piercing situation). She made it out like those were the only flat back option when they simply were not. Once the nice piercing lady started to screw the earrings into my ears (bad idea - very painful, difficult for her to do despite the manager saying they were not difficult). Then the nice piercing lady said they were too short for my ears (confirming my suspicions). So then we both had to endure the painful process of then unscrewing the earrings and at that point I just started crying. I felt bad for the piercing lady because literally none of this was her fault. She was just doing her job and she felt terrible about making me in pain. The piercing lady was a really awesome nurse because she said she cared about the longevity of the piercing (and she wasn’t just trying to sell me the most expensive earrings in the store even though they were not the best option for my ears). The manager on the other hand I think needs more training on piercings before making...
