So this is a real review. I have been eating at Joe's for 10+ years. In my opinion it's the best pizza in Southlake to pick up. There are a couple of other ones with coal fires and such that might be gourmet, but this is a real old school New York style pizza.
The PROS: I love the pizza and it doesn't give me heartburn like the delivery places do. The meatballs are good. The lasagna and other pastas are pretty good. The sandwiches are good. The Joe's special is what I normally get. They have anchovies. I'm giving 3 stars because I want it to stay open and even though it has many faults, the pizza has been consistent.
The CONS: Many people complain about rudeness from the staff. I haven't experienced that in a while, but have in the past. Most of the people working there are hard working, nice people. Here's how to order: State your order very clearly. Give your name. These guys are from New Jersey (at least some of them are) so give them a break, it's not the usual southern hospitality. You want a good pizza? Deal with it.
TIPPING: This is a big one to me being in the service business. Over the years I have been told by some staff I have been friendly with that they do not get the tips left on a credit card, but they do split the cash tips. If the owner wants to pipe up on this one, I would appreciate it. If I leave a tip I'm assuming it goes to the people that make the pizza and put together the order, not the restaurant. If I find out the credit card tips are going to the staff I will up to 5 stars. Don't take it out on the current staff, I have heard this for many years.
In the old days I might get a cup of ranch dressing and not have to pay extra because the guys knew I was going to tip. That's just a part of doing business. I don't even care if you charge more for the pizza, I will still buy it. Now I know I'm going to pay extra if I want some ranch, which is really good, by the way. Keep it old school. Tell me I'm wrong on this. Let these hard working guys get...
Read moreSuch a horrible experience. I showed up at my order was taken at 610 pm. I asked about how long it takes for a few items I was interested in. I was told 20 minutes and I had time constraints so I chose a Stromboli because it would take "much less time and it only needs to be reheated/heated up. The cashier appeared completely upset/annoyed to be there at all. That young lady never smiled one time. 30 minutes later I was still standing there. I handed back my receipt to the side with the towel on his head and told him I've been here 30 minutes and had to leave; and asked him to give my food away and walked out. As I began turning around - that douche canoe with the towel draped over his head looked at my receipt and stated "OK, whatever." I will never recommend that establishment to anyone. Downright disgusting way to treat a first...
Read moreThe best NY style pizza in in DFW hands down. I love joes with a furious passion, I hate what Joes does to my diet planning.
in all seriousness, Joes has the best pizza by the slice or fresh out of the oven you will find just about anywhere. The staff is always funny and will cut up with you anytime, they are not making fun of you they are just laughing to get through the day.
I used to take my son here every day after school for a slice of pie. it was the highlight of our day! Then he had to go and start school...
I have honestly eaten everything on the menu and not found a single bad thing. the only thing that sucks about the place is the bathroom get a little hot in the summer so go to 7-11 if you have to stay in the stall to long.
Long...
