Although I love Modern Market Eatery, I have been skipping visits here lately, because the taste of my food on my last several visits were repetitive evidence of some cross-contamination occurring at this location. Unfortunately, when I ordered a bowl with chicken in it, I noticed a distinct hot pepper taste to the food like every other bite and then I just couldn’t tolerate it anymore. I know for a fact that the entree which I ordered absolutely was NOT supposed to contain any ingredients which signaled that the food was hot. I used to work in the food industry (a long time ago), and one of the things they train you in is NOT to use the same chopping/cutting knife for different ingredients because obviously then certain ingredients will taste bad plus there’s a sanitary issue as well. I encourage management to retrain there prep and serving staff to be careful during the preparation process especially. One shouldn’t have to have their mouth 🥵 burned when they eat, and hot peppers are not a substitute for flavor. I had the seasonal lemongrass tuna bowl. Both the lemongrass aioli and the chili vinegar were delicious! The ahi tuna is the best I’ve had so far in DFW, and so fresh. The vegetables were crisp and tasty, and the rice and quinoa mix was excellent. I’m usually not a big quinoa eater and almost skipped this dish because of it, but I’m really glad I didn’t!
My husband had the pepperoni pizza with onions and jalapeño and thought it was fantastic too.
I want to commend Modern Market Eatery in particular for their clear and easy to find ingredients list. My husband has a soy allergy, and we were happy to be able to find the ingredients for everything front-and-center and to also find one of the most sophisticated digital allergen menus we’ve ever seen. Kudos to their web team for that entire website, really.
And, because everything is made fresh, there was a lot less “surprise soy” in places you wouldn’t expect it and he was able to pick from a much wider selection of options than at other restaurants!

Read moreI ordered a Buddha bowl to-go with some modifications that were reflected on my receipt. When I arrived home, I found arugula on my bowl instead of the kale I asked for. I called the store and was met with a long and convoluted automatic messaging system and when I finally spoke to a human, I told them of their mistake and asked for them to make a new one and have it ready for pick up. I drove 20 minutes back to the store, got my new bowl, and when I got into my car, I checked the bowl to make sure it was correct and they had AGAIN put arugula instead of kale on it. I am allergic to arugula and this posed a serious health risk for me. I decided to throw the bowl away and call it a night because it this point it was 8:30pm and I did not want to walk back into the store for a THIRD bowl to be made incorrectly.
