This place is totally disappointing. My husband & I came here for a late breakfast today. Although they were still serving breakfast & also lunch, we were told that we both had to order the same, not breakfast & lunch. Oh well. Then we ordered our beverages, coffee & coke. Coffee totally cold. I walked up to the counter & asked if I could please get a hot cup of coffee. Waitress brings a new cup, barely lukewarm. I have already had a delicious cup at the hotel so I let it slide. I ordered a plain biscuit & a cup of cheesy grits. The grits literally came out with no warmth at all & looked like a dough ball in a bowl with a little bit of shredded cheese on top. My husband ordered the ‘rise & shine’ breakfast & there was nothing warm, but the hashbrown casserole & eggs. The waitress never once came back to the table for any reason or offered any refills. When we were getting ready to leave, she asked if everything was okay & I told her the grits were totally cold, she offered me a new bowl. I told her no, we were ready to leave. She didn’t offer to take them off the check or offer any discount. I paid $4.99 for the grits that I took one bite of. My husband said it stated on the menu that there is a $10 minimum purchase requirement for each customer. That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. We will never ever patronize this place again. You locals can have it. There is a reason people were waiting in the parking lot to dine at the Old...
Read moreOn a recent trip to Southport, we decided to stop at the café for lunch. We sat outside with our dog, and the service was reasonably good—attentive without being overbearing.
I tried the Nashville hot chicken tenders, and they were excellent—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fries were also a highlight: golden and satisfyingly crunchy. However, the biscuit that came with my meal was a letdown. It tasted like something straight out of the refrigerated section at the grocery store, and for a place that bills itself as a craft or specialty breakfast spot, offering fake butter spread instead of real butter was disappointing.
My wife opted for the chicken sandwich, which she thought was very good. Like my meal, her fries were crispy and well-seasoned.
Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience, and we plan to return to explore more of the menu. That said, given the underwhelming biscuit and fake butter spread, we’ll likely stick to lunch items next time.

Read moreI used them for breakfast snacks for a bridal party and everything was fabulous. We ordered a variety of breakfast sandwiches all with fruit as the side. We asked to have the fruit all put together in one bowl so it would be together. They put it in a 9 x 13 rubbermaid container and had it laid out beautifully! We asked to have the sandwiches cut in half (to make them easier to eat) and wrapped in foil (to keep them warmer). Not only did they do that, but they actually wrapped each half separately - which actually worked out even better! Each half was labeled with the type of sandwich. The bridal party was at the 'party house' on Oak Island, so there were other people in and out of that area and grabbed a half sandwich here and there. Needless to say, they were all gone! If you need catering, consider Carolina Coastal Cafe! They will take care of you. They did a great job for my friend's daughter's big day. We we're thrilled...
