Franklin Square Park — Attraction in Southport

This poor park needs help. Grass planted, flowers pruned, bushes cut back, and the pavilion needs sanding and painting from the last time I was there when walking my fur baby. I’m not complaining by any means, it just makes me sad to see it the way it is right now. Hopefully the city of Southport recognizes this and is slotting $$ in their budget to “better” Franklin Square Park for next year. Or perhaps this Fall. The festival we went to was cool, if unorganized. The park itself is so-so. Lots of shade trees, but also lots of roots. Not much parking. No bathrooms that we could find. It's probably a great space for sitting and reading, but it wasn't a great place for spending a day walking around. Very inaccessible to handicaps such as myself. Wheelchairs have a tough time. Went here for local farmers market pre 4th of July in the park. Everything was spaced out unusually inconvenient. The city had the main road to shut down for work on the road. If the city has that many issues under ground of the roads they shoukd have just canceled all events like the fire works. The park was not clean and access to bathrooms was inconvenient.
