Should have known - an empty parking lot is ominous. To be fair, there is major road work being done in the vicinity that is no doubt hurting potential traffic - but, still...
We were seated pretty quickly by the hostess, and she was friendly. Our server came right to the table and dry wiped it for us, but don't the tables at Logan's always seem a little sticky? Anyhow, she took our drink orders immediately and was on her way, and returned with them and a basket of rolls.
So far, so good. She gave us a few mins to decide our fare for the evening and returned when we put our menus down. My lady ordered a chicken fried steak with okra and premium mashed potatoes (whatever that means), and I, the meatloaf (on regular potatoes - I guess), with corn. I also had mushrooms, onions and gravy on the loaf.
Although there were less than a dozen tables occupied, it took a considerable while to get our order. When it came, her's was hot, mine was lukewarm. With mine, the meatloaf is okay, not great, but the institutional gravy is a mess - don't ever order it. It's tastes fake and ruined the meatloaf. My mashed potatoes (the loaf smothers it, intentionally) seemed like a mix as they were just too fine, too pureed if you will, to be real. Corn is corn.
My ladie's meal was better, and her mashed potatoes (again, the premium) seemed real, but had a feint garlic or onion subtleness to them. Her steak was hot throughout, and her okra was good, but the batter was over-salted.
All in all, Logan's isn't what it used to be - at least not on this night. I know all restaurants are suffering in trying to hire good, consistent help, and Managers are doing what they can, but with less than 20 people or so in the entire place, we should have received our meals quickly and hot.
Logan's, your Manager should have been walking from table to table (remember the good ol' days when they actually did that?) instead of chumming with the young folks. And all establishments have lost their grip on phones in the workplace.
All in all, there are better places from which to choose, than the Logan's at Spanish Fort.
Despite the world around us and the many reasons or excuses for turmoil, people still want good service (which we had from our young server), good food (it was "meh" at best) and a good time (bring back the dang peanuts for cripes sake!).
Sad to say, but I ain't hitching my horse to the Logan's porch again,...
Read moreOur visit to Logan's Roadhouse in Spanish Fort was very disappointing overall. Upon arrival, the deadbolt was locked in the out position which caught on my very expensive specialized wheelchair, but thankfully there was no damage. The entry windows were dirty, and since it was early afternoon, there hadn't been much traffic, so cleaning them should have been easy.
As we walked in, I noticed an empty peanut barrel, and the hostess informed me that they no longer provide peanuts due to COVID. This made me question why the barrel was still there if it was just going to be empty.
While the floors were relatively clean and a pleasant smell of barbecue filled the air, everything went downhill when I needed to use the restroom. It was very dirty with a strong smell of urine. After I spoke to the manager, who casually remarked about how some people can be messy, I revisited the restroom before leaving, but nothing had been done about the cleanliness. He was the only male staff member I saw, and it seemed like he was waiting for someone else to come clean. He wasn't busy; he spent quite a bit of time chatting and laughing with the employees.
On a positive note, our server, Summer, was very thoughtful and thorough. She was a pleasant presence in what was otherwise a trying environment.
Now, onto the food: my appetite wasn't great after the bathroom experience, but I tried to set that aside. I ordered the "cedar plank 1/4 BBQ chicken," and my wife chose the "roadhouse smokehouse platter." The sides tasted okay, but they weren't at the right temperatures. Everything was kind of warm; items like potato salad should have been cold, while the green beans and meats should have been hot. Maybe it had something to do with putting it under a heat lamp which could have made the cold items warm… I don’t know that’s just a guess.
Barbecue is one of our favorites, but the chicken was simply different. We each took only about two bites; the chicken was rubbery and didn't have the texture of good barbecued or smoked chicken.
Overall, the entire experience was disappointing. There are too many restaurants in the area with better options, so I don't see myself returning to this location. These aren't typical complaints for me; if you look through my reviews, most are very positive. I usually try to highlight good aspects, but there simply...
Read moreWe placed a to-go order on 1/27/23 to be ready at 6:45pm. We placed the order at this time because we have a very short window in which we can eat dinner after putting our 6 month old to bed. My husband picked the order up and when he arrived home and started unpacking the food, he realized an entire meal was missing. That meal alone cost us $36. We spent over $90 on food in total. We had no choice but to drive back to the restaurant to get the missed food. I went to pick it up and was met with a young girl who said she had spoken to the manager and they had offered us a free dessert. I declined for multiple reasons: 1) we spent $90 on food, if we had wanted a dessert, we certainly would’ve ordered one; 2) this is an insulting offer in my opinion. Our food ALL sat getting cold (either at the restaurant or at our house) from 6:45 until I arrived back home after 7:30. A $10 dessert doesn’t go very far considering our food was barely edible after getting cold and having to be microwaved AND the fact that we had to spend time & gas to make a special trip to pick the missed food up.
I realize that everyone makes mistakes, which I expressed to the young girl (who was very apologetic), but I was not pleased with the manager’s offer and felt it was very diminishing of what a huge hassle this was to us. If we wanted to microwave our dinner, we could’ve picked it up earlier in the day when it would’ve been more convenient, but we wanted a hot, fresh meal - and when I spend $90, that is exactly what I expect.
I have left this particular store great feedback in the past because I felt their quality and service had gone up, but this has left us very disappointed and we will probably not be back. I feel like this review is necessary and that the manager’s stance on what they offer to customers who have been seriously inconvenienced needs to be reconsidered. I also reached out on the website before writing this review, stating I would like to be contacted, and I never heard back.
So just be aware that you as the customer can be completely inconvenienced and have your entire meal sit cold for 45+ min while you have to make another trip to the restaurant and all you will be offered is a free dessert for a...
