We were so saddened to see Sizzler go by the wayside and remain empty for a while. We were really hoping for a nice, NON-CHAIN, Mom & Pop restaurant to pop open here to take its place.
Lo, and behold, a Jack's sign was put up, and we got excited. We loved Jack's on Victorian, so, with this location right down the street from us, we were looking forward to making this a regular, once - or twice a month Saturday breakfast treat!
We went for our first time last Saturday, Oct. 14th, and wow, it's so nice and clean inside! So open, wide, and airy! Not all closed in and dark, booths and chairs all crammed together, like the Victorian location (sorry!).
This place, though, has a wee bit of rustic Sizzler left behind, and that's not a bad thing because it fits into Jack's perfectly!
A wee bit of rusticness, industrial farm touch, all the wonderful windows letting in light, and an easy-breezy roominess to navigate through. You actually feel relaxed and not at all packed in tight, like sardines.
So! I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with Country gravy & eggs, crispy, golden hashbrowns, and a pillowy-soft, fluffy, warm country biscuit with honey and butter. The steak came right to our table out of the fryer, so it was still sizzling and bubbling!
Oh, yeah! It was so fresh and so tender! The breading was crispy and delicious! Made my happy butt happy!
Hubbaroonie ordered the (I can not remember the name, Jack's Classic(?), lovely, crispy and tender French Toast, homefries, two delicious sausages, and eggs over medium.. it was all so good! Piping hot right out of the kitchen to our table.
Our lovely waitress, I unfortunately didn't catch her name, was a sweetheart! So friendly, warm, and engaging. We felt welcome right away, along with the friendly fellow who gave us our waters. The entire staff is really wonderful.
You can actually feel the ambiance when you enter, that you know it's a good, down home, friendly place.
Thank you for setting up shop right here on Prater and McCarran! Yayyy!!! We'll be back!
A+++ 5 STARS all the way across the...
ย ย ย Read moreThis place has just opened. Closes at two was a disapointment, so my friend and I tried to go at a time we could get there. They were busy and people were waiting outside. We put our name in and waited. We said we needed a table because of a handicaped condition. After a while we were seated -- in a booth for four. We would have had to wait longer, so we took it. A gentleman came and asked what we wanted to drink - she asked for a coke and I asked for water. He said they didn't have Coke. She then asked for iced tea. I asked, for her, if they had Pepsi and he said they have Sprite, "oh, yes," he said we have Pepsi." Well, she would then have Pepsi. When he came back he brough 1 Pepsi and 1 iced tea. I HAD ASKED FOR WATER. We then waited several minutes. Finally a waitress came to take our order. "Your not ready?" She asked. "We didn't get a menue" After looking at the menue that she eventually brought, we chose: french foast for my friend and a scramble for me. I asked for, guess what- water. My friend asked for syrup for her french toast, that by the way, never came. The food came hot and there was plenty of it, with the portions being large and complete. No problem here! But the waitress NEVER came back. I had to wave someone down, litterly wave- yoo-hoo. We had to ask for the bill and refills on a drink, also a go box. Still no bill, so I waved again. The scramble was 13.99, French toast was 12.99 and the iced tea, tha I did not ask for was a whopping $4.50! Also her pepsi. Can't say as we will be back! Food okey, plenty of it, but the price and experience was bad. If you want a good breakfast go to Los Alots restraunt on Pryamid in Sparks, food is much better and so is...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently took my family out for breakfast to celebrate my recent marriage, hoping to enjoy a nice meal together. We chose this place based on fond memories from my childhood, but our experience was far from what I remembered.
Upon entering, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, which initially set a positive tone. My wife ordered chocolate chip pancakes, expecting a hearty serving, but what arrived was a disappointing plate with just a sprinkle of chocolate chips on top of whipped cream for $4. That felt like a letdown right from the start.
As we enjoyed our drinks, we received the bill midway through our meal. To our shock, we found that we had spent nearly $20 on just two coffees and some kids' juices. The pricing felt excessive for what we received, leaving us feeling scammed and frustrated.
Overall, the experience left a sour taste in my mouth and completely ruined my appetite. Itโs disheartening to say, but I don't think I'll be returning to a place that I once loved. I hope they can reevaluate their pricing and portion sizes, as this could be a lovely spot again if...
