Make sure you tip! So I received my lunch at my place of work today and I got more than just my meal. Apparently, it is required to tip the delivery driver (employee of Jimmy Johns) to have your food delivered in a civil manner. It does not seem as if the delivery charge covers good quality service. It was my understanding that drivers were no longer paid a pittance for their service and no longer rely on tips to live. I was wrong and I apparently wronged the Jimmy Johnâs delivery driver.
The young woman who brought in my food was not going to let my lack of tip remain unknown. The first words out of her mouth were laced with contempt as she intended to shame me in front of my co-workers. She made it known, in the front lobby where clients could also overhear, that I did not tip and she wanted me to come on down to sign for my meal so she can confront me over this required tip. When I responded to my co-worker I was currently on a phone call and unable to sign at the time, the outspoken driver decided to lay on the contempt even more in front of my co-workers and clients. Luckily her pathetic attempt to shame me in front of staff was laughable at best. However, it did upset me enough to contact the manager.
I have a feeling this quality employee is not going to face any disciplinary action for the way she conducted herself in my office. At the end of the day, we all have our own opinion. I donât feel like a tip is required for someone doing their job by delivering my food for their place of business. Maybe I need to rethink my position, but today I walk away with a bad taste in my mouth. No recourse was offered, which makes me believe the manager believes a person working as a delivery driver at Jimmy Johnâs is entitled to a tip while doing their job. At least I get to choose where I spend my money...

However this time, I decided to try a different location and test their veggie sandwich consistency and freshness. When we walked in we were greeted right away and I was surprised how big the inside dining area was. It wasn't busy and actually empty the entire time we were there. Mother's Day could have affected this. Anyway, I proceeded to order the #6 veggie sandwich and my friend ordered the Turkey Tom and added salami, peppers, and oil & vinegar. My sandwich was really good and consistent with the veggie sandwich from the other store. Bread was soft and delicious as usual and all my veggies were fresh and crisp. There was adequate cheese and the avocado spread tied it all together nicely. My friend was pretty happy with his choice and said it was really good. The employees were nice and had good customer service. The store was brightly lit and noticeably clean. I would visit this store again. It's worthy to note this location has a drive-thru, but no...

There has been a marked decrease in quality and quantity of their sandwiches over the last couple years, but the last two visits have convinced me to discontinue doing business with them.
The sandwiches are lighter on meat and veggies, they add items like cheese even when the menu doesn't have it default and none was requested, it's hit and miss whether you get the condiments you ask for (they've claimed to be out of jimmy mustard for two weeks now).
It makes me sad because Jimmy John's and Caruso's were my favorite sandwich places and now they've both significantly dropped in quality and service.
Edit: Seems Jimmy John's owner responded pretty quick with a feedback form on their website for me fill out. I'm not interested in giving you my personal information. For those interested it's the Argonne store. I'm not interested in compensation just done being a customer. If problems can't be solved based on Google reviews then I don't think I can help...
