The service was pleasant at first. Once the server realized she forgot our appetizer, only after our entrees arrived, she became inattentive and disregarding. The steak and chicken fajitas were very greasy, dripping everywhere. The beef was dry and overcooked, the chicken was perfectly tender. The burrito a la crema had good notes and not so good notes. The crema is absolutely delicious! The perfect velvety smoothness with a bit of sour. The burrito is best described as deflated. It appeared more as an open-ended half filled enchilada.More tortilla than anything else. The chicken was dry and chewy. The beans on both plates were smooth but lacked the thickness you expect. The rice was dry with hard crunchy bits. I was definitely not a fan of the salsa that comes with the chips. It’s a hot sauce and lacks any real vegetables or tomato and is rather on the hot side without much flavor. The cabbage pico is delicious as it’s own but lacks any flavor beyond the veggies. If you mix the “salsa” with the pico it is phenomenal. The chips are fresh. The environment is open with beautiful interior design. A lot of thought and effort was given to the inviting atmosphere. The craftsmanship in the wood working is very impressive. However, at only half capacity, it was rather loud. Sadly this does not entice me to return to try other items anytime soon. The staff speaks Spanish on the floor, for those who don’t quite understand Spanish, this can be very frustrating. For those that do, the gossip is...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE!!! I had an absolutely awful experience at this restaurant due to the shockingly poor service from our server, Jazmin (she was young). From the moment we sat down, she was inattentive, unprofessional, and completely disinterested in doing her job. She never once checked on us, and when I placed my order, she clearly wasn’t paying attention.
I have a dairy allergy, which I made very clear when I ordered my fajitas without sour cream or cheese. Then, when my food arrived, it had cheese all over it. This wasn’t just a minor inconvenience—it could have seriously affected my health.
When I brought this to her attention, instead of apologizing or fixing the mistake professionally, Jazmin was shockingly rude. She acted as if I was the problem, dismissively telling me that she would “have to” get the manager but then never actually did—because, in her words, it wouldn’t be “convenient” for her. It was beyond unprofessional and downright unacceptable.
I have never experienced such a careless and rude server, especially when dealing with a food allergy. Her attitude was completely inappropriate, and it’s clear she has no business working in customer service. If management actually cares about their customers, they need to seriously reconsider who they hire. I would never return after such an experience, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place unless they want to be treated with the same level...
Read moreOn Monday, December 23, 2024, my wife and our two children (7 years old and 4 years old) ate at Vaqueros for lunch. My wife works across the street and has ordered food from this establishment before but it was my first time. I appreciated how the bussing crew worked hard to set our table when we walked in. By the time we were directed to our seats, not only were menus and silverware already set but they had child-proof drinkware already waiting for my kids. The restaurant’s interior is spacious, clean, and welcoming.
Chips were waiting for us when we sat down and they provide you with a hot salsa and a mild salsa. There is a lunch menu and the prices are reasonable. I ordered the two enchilada combo which was $14.95. My kids each ordered the child’s taco and our server accommodated our substitution request for French fries instead of rice and beans. My wife got the taquitos. How did it all taste? Well, about how it is supposed to. In my humble opinion, nothing really made the food at Vaqueros stand out. It tasted like your average family Mexican restaurant fare—which isn’t a bad thing, it just wasn’t exceptional or memorable. If you are nearby and want decent, reliable Mexican food, Vaqueros isn’t...
