Michaels — Local services in Spokane Valley

I have shopped in-store at the Valley Michaels 3x this last month, not including my online and curbside orders, as I am redecorating /restocking my craft room for our business. All 3 times I have been in the store the staff ( 2 ladies in particular) are extremely rude to the customers. They have no problem showing their displeasure in having to assist or answer customer questions. I have to scan all items with the Michaels app to verify pricing and they will still argue about their advertised sales. I have had to order items online for pickup to get the sale prices on items that were advertised as they will not entertain any conversation about pricing discrepancies. One of the associates even said over the walkie talkie " Is she blind, it clearly states..." I was absolutely appalled by this. I left without purchasing the items in question. I returned the following day after calling to verify the sale price and was sold the items for the sale price the associate was so rudely mistaken by. Today when I came in I was purchasing ceramic planters and picking up my online curbside orders. When I got to the counter and inquired about my pick up I was told " didn't you know it is self service?" Even though I was checking out other items and my curbside order was not in the "self service bins" as it consisted of oversized items. When I returned home today I found that all of my planters were just tossed in my bag, not wrapped, subsequently breaking 2 of them. I have given this store multiple chances to live up to even the lowest of standards and they have failed everytime. I used to be loyal to this store but after the last few experiences I have had I will no longer spend my money here. You ladies should be ashamed of yourselves for how you are...

The store was a nice size and there were at least a little bit, when not more of, a varity of most things. My problem with this spesific location is the employees. I had never been to a Michaels store before, and when it was recomended to me, I figured there was no harm in exploring. However, after not even looking threwout the entire store I noticed the employees stocking me as if I was suspicios. When I went to use the restroom, the manager was standing out waiting for me, as if I were a criminal waiting to be caught. Every isle I would go down after that there was an employee watching me. I did nothing to deserve to feel so incredibly dishonest and belittled, especally on my birthday. After my perchase, I personaly rrquested to talk with the manager and she kept harshly calling me "mam" as if we were not having a conversation but she was just rehersing lines. I was polite, I did nothing to deserve to feel dehuminized as I had felt then. I had come there explore, get ideas for a much anticipated and very close to my heart event, of which I am decorating, and for special pen to write greeings for invations for said event. When people ask about my decorating I will decline to mention Michaels. I will not again frequent their establishment, ever. I went in happy with joy, and left almost in tears. I regret spending time here. Words from the wise: if you are a family person who enjoys a "homey", friendly, and sincere shopping experence, do NOT shop here. Sorry if I have dishartend you. First impressions: Every time I walk in it has a funeral in a library vibe! It's like everyone is hiding, and the anticipation of an employee jumping out of a stack of fake flowers is very real. But, they never jump out. Or, like that one friend with the drunk abusive dad, who the kid is scared to death to wake up, out of fear of being beaten! Definitely some of that action too.

As far as the shopping, it has almost everything I'm never looking for and more!

Typical craft store prices, but strangely off! Some things are expensive, like all the other craft stores, mixed in with little hidden gems, at shopping mall gem prices. Stand-out items like, roller cutters that are 4x the price they are anywhere else, and some items that are 1/4th the cost anywhere else. So, it pays to know your prices.

So overall thoughts: 🤔 That creepy Vibe, is probably because Michael is actually Michael Myers. And, cool! I'm glad he's an entrepreneur living his best life. But, maybe hire someone else do the interior design. Cause, thats part of the business where they definitely AREN'T killing it! But, that's just me. So, if you ever hear that music run for your life! You weren't going to find what you were looking for anyway. I give it 5 stars...
