I rarely give 5 stars---mostly because to be honest, there aren't any restaurants in Spokane that deserve it--but after our first visit to Frugal's today I was so impressed I just have to give them the credit they are due. We live on the other side of town and had never even heard of Frugal's until the other day while driving down Hamilton we looked up and saw a billboard with a giant burger advertising Frugal's! We came back the next day and from the moment we walked through the door this place did not disappoint. How refreshing to see a CLEAN restaurant with clean counters AND clean seats! We didn't have to hunt for a clean place to sit down! We were actually greeted with a smile and asked if we had been in before. Most of the time we aren't given the time of day so this was nice! A very sweet and polite young lady explained their menu and some different "off menu" burger options. Our lunch for two --- 1 cheddar burger, 1 crispy chicken sandwich (add cheese), 1 french fry, 1 cheese curds, 1 large coke 1 tartar and 1 fry sauce was only $21.07! (with tax---and before tip) and it was well worth every penny. This place is an amazing bargain and the taste and quality of the food really surprised us. The fry sauce is good---but the tartar sauce is fantastic! Zip's needs to watch out----they have a serious contender with this tartar sauce. That's right, I said it! Fries were golden and crispy----and perfectly cooked, and we were SO glad they weren't the awful, "natural cut" or fresh cut, soggy fries everyone seems to be pushing these days. The chicken sandwich and burger are delicious! The burger is like a "diner" burger-- with a definite old fashioned home style feel. And the cheese curds......are pure magic! Oooey gooey, golden, crispy on the outside with a perfectly melty, cheesy inside! It is extremely rare to find a place with incredible food, friendly and competent staff, outstanding prices with a super clean and comfortable space to dine in---but Frugal's has provided all of this and more. We don't usually like trying new places because they almost always disappoint and we leave feeling ripped off ---- but not at Frugal's! I would give 10 stars if I could--and will definitely be back...and unlike other burger places in town we don't have to break the...
Read moreWorst experience ever. We own several small businesses in the Spokane area. We went to Frugals after a super long day of construction on a new store. We’ve never really had issues before this. It was a large order and the mess up isn’t what I’m dumbfounded by. We get our orders home to find three of their bacon burgers had zero patties. I immediately called. The woman who answered listened to the issue and asked me to hold for one moment, at which point she SET THE PHONE DOWN WITHOUT MUTING IT. The conversation we heard while they were on speaker phone on our end is as follows- Manager: No. I made all those burgers and I did not mess up.super rude tone proceeds to aggressively complain about us. Manager gets on the phone and is super rude. Accuses us of lying, to which I promptly replied “video call me right now then and what’s your number so I can send you photos.” I proceed to send the photos and he gets super apologetic at which point I tell him I’m more displeased with being called a liar. He says they will refund the entire order the following day and give us frugal cash. Next day. We show up. They refund us 30 for the burgers and tells us we will have “a lot of credits as an apology for accusing us of lying. “ Fast forward, we go back to try again. They never put us in their system. The managers for catty towards one another accusing the other of being lazy or not doing enough. Then he gives us basically nothing for credits. Bad management and we will never return. An added note: They have since this happened messed up on 3 of my other friends orders and been rude when confronted. They also no longer will go to Frugals. Good food but worst customer service and always forgetting something(including the whole point to a hamburger, the meat.)
Edit: several months later and I haven’t had any sort of response from the owner. If you want a good experience don’t go here. No accountability and no resolution. Thieves who essentially stole from us and did nothing of real substance to rectify it other than call us liars. Looking at the other negative reviews I’d say this is a Frugals problem and not a customer problem. It doesn’t matter how good your food is if you have a...
Read moreWe went afternoon time with my husband and our toddler. It's our first time. Our first dine in was still good though the milkshake machine (ice cream machine) stop producing the product because the machine is broken. We actually went there for the milkshake and 2nd would be the beef cheddar burger, fries & cheese curds. Please, to the one who owns this franchise, completely just buy a new ice cream machine. There's no point of fixing it, if every month it keeps on breaking. 🤷♀️ The employees are multi-taskers. They all can cook, take order, package the food etcetera. I love that they don't really need to fake a smile. As a first time customer, we are satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food. (Don't Change!) The space isn't huge, I think it can only occupy 17 people inside. (Please, add more "Frugals".)
A big shout out to "BELLA". She's a very nice lady. She's all around. She takes drive thru orders, make their beverages, fry fries and once the drive thru is clear she'll come in front and take order, answer questions clearly, she knows how to deal with store troubles without stressing. She knows how to treat any guests right. I love her energy. She's a keeper. Frugals should give her a raise, a gift or whatever as an appreciation. Actually all of them deserves appreciation but Bella standout for us, as a first time...
