Uno Mas Tacos – From Wonder(ful) to Wondering What Happened
Uno Mas, I love you… but what happened?
Back when you were tucked inside the Wonder Building, your food slapped. It was fresh, flavorful, and had me daydreaming about tacos like a teenager with a crush. Fast forward to your shiny new location, and it’s like the tacos went through a midlife crisis and lost their identity.
Let’s talk elote — or should I say corn soup with an oil base. I was ready for creamy, cheesy goodness, and instead got a cup of corn doing the backstroke in grease with a tiny sprinkle of queso on top like, “Surprise! I’m here too.” Disappointing doesn’t even cover it.
Now to be fair — the service is great. Super friendly staff and a nice outdoor patio that made me want to like my meal. But the food? Man, it’s like your flavor took a vacation and forgot to come back.
I miss the old Uno Mas. The one that made my taste buds sing. I’ll give it uno mas try down the road, but for now… I’m mourning...
Read moreI’ve been to Uno Mas a few times before this review. Unfortunately this experience has ruined it all together. We came in Saturday 5-17 around 715. We were sat at a table around 730 and everything started out great. We ordered drinks and food fairly quickly. We received our food and never spoke with the waitress again. We wanted refills on drinks and water but she never came back to check on us. She was too busy cleaning the restaurant and trying to close early apparently. 15 mins after we finished our food she came over and cleared the table, left her servers tablet and walked away without saying a word. Apparently that meant we were to cash ourselves out after that. We waited to see if she would come back to cash us out but she never did. Finally we cashed ourselves out and left because it seemed like none of the workers were wanting us to be there. Your website says you close at 9pm, we were cashed out and leaving by 8:20. Absolutely terrible service and a...
Read moreI have been wanting to try this for quite a while and I'm so glad we stopped in. This is the cutest little place with such good food. The service was great. There was a lot of street parking and I think parking lot also. It feels like a safe part of town as well. We got the chips with salsa and guac and queso. The salsa was amazing with such great flavor. We also got the elote corn which was really good. We got fish tacos, carnitas tacos, a burrito. All of them were really tasty. We were seated quickly and the server came by quick as well. All staff we came into contact with were friendly. We got way too much food and left stuffed. They did tell us they have events and a DJ sometimes outside and the outside patio was really inviting and nice. I am super happy we tried this place as I am really picky with Mexican food being a San Diego girl. This has a different kind of vibe and style than authentic Mexican food but it is definitely yummy. We will be back...
