We went 6/21/25 for our first taste of any form of African food. I had heard so much about fufu and was dying to try it. When we saw a ghana restaurant open, myself and two friends decided ro give it a try.
Our server was amazing. She explained everything with no judgement and helped us pick our meals despite not knowing what some would be like. Me and my friend had the fufuo with soup, mine the pepper and goat, his the chicken and peanut butter. Both were deliciously aromatic. They pack some heat but it was delicious.
We had the kelewele at the beginning and it is an amazingly spiced plantain dish. Our other friend is a vegetarian and had rice and beans and plantains. We ended the meal with to go boxes, and a dessert made with fried dough, nutmeg and vanilla. It was all so good.
If you are new to any type of African food, just ask! They explained ingredients and how to eat it. The restaurant was clean, well cared for, smelled good, and the music was a good atmospheric detail. We will definitely be back.
Expect to pay $15-$20 per entree, but large servings (we all got to go bags) and worth the price. The appetizer, a perfectly shareable size was under $5 and three fried dough desserts were only $4. Good prices, high quality, and a...
Read moreI live in Richmond but made the drive to Fredericksburg just to try Ghana Cuisine and Bar and it was absolutely worth it! They close at 7 on Saturdays, and we got there close to closing time, so we planned to order to-go out of respect. But Cynthia came over with a warm smile and insisted we dine in, assuring us it was no trouble at all. Her kindness and hospitality set the tone for an incredible experience.
We ordered Attieke with Tilapia and Banku with Grilled Tilapia. I love spicy food, but I think I finally met my match. This was next level heat in the best way! Every bite was 10/10. And to top it all off, Cynthia surprised us with complimentary bofrot. Such a sweet and thoughtful touch.
The food was amazing, the customer service was impeccable, and the vibe was unbeatable. If you’re a fan of old-school Ghanaian music, you’ll be in heaven. It was back-to-back classics the whole time.
I had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back....
Read moreWas craving jollof rice, and I didn’t want to drive all the way up north, so I happen to Google and I did not realize we had this restaurant in Fredericksburg. I ordered through GrubHub and ordered the beef and jollof rice with a boiled egg. The jollof rice was absolutely delicious. The Ghanaian flavors were strong and perfect. The beef was tender and not too tough. My only request is that the meat portion increase slightly. I only received three pieces of beef, although one of the pieces were on the larger side, it would’ve been nice to have a bit more, especially with pricing. I’ll definitely...
