A major disappointment! As a food scientist with years of experience in the pizza industry, I have to say the pizza I was served today at Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza was the absolute worst. I ordered the San Marino pizza off of the Signature Pizzas menu. The description said “crushed tomato sauce, goat cheese, mozzarella, prosciutto, spinach, garlic, crushed red pepper.” After about 15 minutes of waiting, the pizza arrived. The dough was still raw, the cheese was melted but not browned, and the spinach on top was raw. My husband’s pizza also had raw toppings (jalapeños, basil, and spinach) and lukewarm mozzarella. I walked the pizzas to the counter and asked to have them cooked all the way. An employee brought the pizzas back a while later. Husband’s pizza on the cauliflower crust was now cooked enough to eat (although the cheese was not browned), but the dough on my pizza was still raw. I sent my pizza back again to have it remade. 10 more minutes and a new pizza arrived at the table. Strike two - still raw! After the second barely-cooked pizza was delivered, I walked back to the counter again. The older brunette woman at the counter (the owner??) took the pizza and asked if I wanted to try a third time. I had to explain to her that the dough was raw, the cheese was barely melted, and the spinach on top was raw. I forgot to even mention that I didn’t see any prosciutto on the pizza. The woman kept making excuses, saying that the pizza had goat cheese and therefore the cheese doesn’t brown. She told me that they purposefully put the toppings on after cooking and that the toppings are supposed to be raw. And she said that no one else was complaining about their raw dough and toppings. Upon realizing that this woman clearly had minimal knowledge of pizza-making and customer service, I ended the conversation. Instead of a refund, I was given a coupon that expires in one month. I am appalled at the lack of customer service and repeated service of raw pizza with no concern for food safety. I hope no one gets sick from the raw dough and raw toppings being served...
Read moreHate to be the "Debbie Downer" right now with all the great 5 star reviews I read before going. I'll give them a five star now but will try again later and determine if this is still acceptable. They just opened so I know they are still working out the kinks and getting things right. I didn't appreciate that nothing was explained about any of their food or drink how to's. I had to figure it out myself....I think I did?! They keep your credit card info, give you a bracelet(which embarrassingly kept falling off) that enables you to turn on the tap for beer or wines(which are pre measured) and you return bracelet before leaving and get your card charged. I got sangria which was pretty good but was a too small sampling in my opinion for $5 & change. Pizza was more of a personal size pizza(6 small slices). Very delicious but would have enjoyed more quantity of toppings than what we got. One piece of red pepper... for example... per slice isn't enough. I want more for my money and tastebuds! Seating arrangements and the really cool way they did an internal outdoor seating was very different and appealing. Very relaxed seating areas and great ambiance. Very clean. Seemed family friendly. We'll try again but will dine in next time. This was a take out order. $36 for two pizzas and one...
Read moreAsking if anyone wanted to get Pizza Hut or Dominos ( can only dream about them after this experience ), I was told about and seen many 4 and 5 star reviews about Smokin Oak ( 😂 Anyone saying this pizza is good has been over served at the bar 🤣) although the 1 star reviews were much more accurate. I've had better pizza delivered in Daytona Beach during Spring Break at 3:30 a.m. by the Pizza Dude ( real company name ).. So we got a cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza - both were the size of my hand, LITERALLY, for $30??!! I could count the pepperoni on the pizza (4) and where is the cheese? Tasted like a tomato pie, period.. Never again - but "we tried it", y'all should be ashamed of yourselves..This is the first 1 star review I have ever given, if I could post (-1 ) I would, now let me try to figure out what to have for dinner 🤬 8/18 Hello, thank you for acknowledging that y'all didn't live up to your own expectations, even after two months. I believe you when you say that you " heavily advertise the personal pizzas". We went solely off Google reviews ( never thought of the size) , however the quality was what it was. One thing I would push back on is the 10' - 11' pies, as you see my hand is under 8 3/4' fully extended. Either way, I do appreciate you...
